Enlite sensors being difficult recently? Anyone else?

Hey,

I’ve noticed my last two boxes of sensors being both difficult to install and barely lasting the 6 days minimum. Anyone else having any new seeming issues with quality control?

Main problem recently being that since they swapped to the new inserter (they sent them out for free), the backing on the sensors has been not releasing from the sensor after the first hit (they peel out from under there, or at least they used to.

I’ve had several now where they begin to pull out after removal of the main needle, and then kind of half release the plastic backing and begin to do the tear and shred thing that cheap stickers do when you try to remove them from electronics.

I know medtronic will offer replacements if you call, but I find the hoops of questions they ask you to jump through to be rather insulting and the big business weariness in me wonders if this is designed as an incentive to not call.

Anyway, just thought I’d ask

Rob.

I have kept the new inserter in its box. I have been having very good luck with the sensors and old inserter that I have been reluctant to make the change. I may try the new inserter for my next sensor as a test. If so will report back.

I have two of the old kind and found that they had started to not want to release after descending.

There was one instance where the needle section was entirely jammed and didn’t descend when I pressed and released the button.

Because of this I tried the new one. It has no mechanism for holding onto the needle, and seems simplified.
The troubles I’m listing are with the sensors themselves though.

Ah Hah. I’m not the only one. Recently have had 2 sensors quit prematurely and one which would not generate an ISIG after insertion. They sent me one no-charge replacement.
A call to Medtronics and I learn there is a new Serta, which they sent at no charge. Haven’t used it yet but it looks like it has a lot of minute, moving parts, so I’m a little concerned about its longevity. The outer shell is also as slippery as an eel, so I’ll need to be careful to hang on to it tightly.
