I’ve been Looping for a few months. I think it’s top of mind because I’ll need to rebuild or it have someone rebuild it for me in a few weeks.
It’s been a good few months using the system though. In terms of what I use: Omnipod Dash, Dexcom G6, and my iPhone 14 Pro Max as the receiver and control.
I’m just wondering how everyone is doing and how everyone likes their Loop set up?
I’ve used Loop since November of 2016. It’s given me a better quality of life minus the typical diabetes metabolic drama. I use Loop (v3.4.4) on my iPhone 15 Pro with a G6 Dexcom CGM and a 722 Minimed pump.
My system produces low glucose variability (SD<=20mg/dL) primarily due to my low-carb animal-based way of eating.
There are few reasons I would willingly give up managing without an automated insulin dosing system. One is a temporary period of MDI in order to practice a reliable back-up system.
I understand the need for help to do the required annual rebuild of Loop. I’ve been graciously helped many times, especially in the aftermath of a stroke.
Using DIY Loop affords me the chance to see how commercial systems might be operating five years from now. I’m thankful I’ve been given this opportunity and glad I took advantage of it back in 2016-2017.
Hi Regina … I’ve been looping since 2016 … Loop, FreeAPS and now Trio. Yes, these algorithms are further advanced and customizable than any commercial system.
I started the FB group, Loop and Learn. We have amazing admins who will help anyone help, including setting you up on browser build so that all you need, in the future, is to use Testflight to automatically update whenever a new version is available. Feel free to join the group and ask if someone is available to help you build and update.
No one should actually build the app for you … lots of liability involved. But there is excellent hand-holding so that you understand the process.
There is an excellent video on how to build using the Browser Build … do that once and updates take only seconds, using TestFlight. It’s had over 22,000 views … it’s an easy to follow video on setting up a browser build by Mike Plante, admin at LnL. https://youtu.be/kiu5ho0MTW8
