I have started take a guar gum fiber supplement at night- the kind you mix in a glass of water. If you take a similar supplement at night or during the day (like benefiber or metamucil) do you find that your insulin needs go up? down? are not affected by the fiber supplement?
When it comes to fiber being consumed with carbohydrates, and the amount is 5g or more, it can reduce your insulin needs. Probably a dietitian would know the answer to that question. My guess is it might depend on your diet.
I found entering the carbs (soluble fiber) in Metamucil capsules in the morning was necessary to get the correct insulin dose. Also made my carb ratio a little higher and the Endo I was seeing at the time was a little less unhappy. In the evening it doesn’t seem to matter.
