Finally approved

Zoe, they gave you a new pump discount? I have a fifty percent copay and draw little income from our small business and they dont seem to be offering me anything at all…

yea i talked to her she said i gotta send a tax return and 2 pay stubs so hopefully it works out though i doubt they will cover the pump my insurance will pay and ill have to pay the rest

All of my pump supplies, testing supplies, dexcom sensors, as well as the Dexcom and pump went and continue to go under the dme portion of my Blue Cross policy. My testing supplies, syringes, etc have been paid under my dme portion since the beginning 12 years ago. You don’t want someone putting it through the pharmacy side of your policy, you don’t get near as much coverage

yea but if your dme max is met then your screwed

Well, no it depends on your plan.
My pump supplies are 100 percent paid through Home Health Care.
My insulin and strips are paid through pharmacy (10.00 for 300 strips per month, two vials of insulin for $35). My Pharmacy is three tier 10/30/60 depending on the product.
My pump however, is DME with only fifty percent covered.

i have to buy my strips and such and not awhole lot is covered i pay for vials of insulin $30 per last year i got 3 for $75 and strips are quite alot thats why i switched to relion brand and my pump is 80/20 i believe but i was told i would owe 1700 on the pump which doesnt sound like 80/20

You can figure around $6000 so no, it isnt coming in at 80/20.
I was quoted 5975 for the old Animas 2020 model, and the gal said the price is about the same for Ping systems.

pings are around $4600 i looked it up though some places might try to charge more which doesnt surprise me

Andrew that must be a cash pay price or a really old price. Last time I spoke it was I think 56 or 5800.

oh wow your right last time i checked was about a month and a half ago and i saw them all over for between 4500-4900 and now everywhere is atleast 5900 thats crazy!!!

I was told retail was $6,400 but for insurance they charge $5,000 and a bit. So my 80/20 came to $1,000 and change my share (which was waived)

yea pumpsit was telling me $1700 and after 1st 3 months of supplies $2400 which seems like way too much so hopefully dealing with animas directly wont be nearly as much

ok animas directly contacted me…
With remaining of your deductible factored, it would be $1556.80 for pump and 3 months of supplies. Now, with Pumps It, you were in the Appeals process so hopefully your insurance will approve this time. If you qualify for the f/a program (under tax income level program), you would receive $1100 off of the initial order plus 30% off future ongoing supply orders for up to one year.

Thank you,

Tonya Finch

Andrew, glad you found some things out.
Is the asssistance program under Animas or Pumps It?
I may need it…so if you can let me know it would be great.

pumpsit it never mentioned anything about it but animas knows all about it so im guessing its just through animas

Thanks! Since I last wrote you, someone actually called me to see what options I have in August when my pump warranty is up.
Maybe some progress here, hope all works out for you!

Awesome Andrew, thanks for hanging in while they took there own time in getting this done!!! So within the next month you ought to have your meter and have had some time with it, looking forward to hear how it goes!!! Again Congrats Man…
