Due to moving twice since my last eye check, I didn’t get to see the eye doctor.
(And I didn’t really want to see an eye doctor, because I heard of several people with diabetes starting to have eye problems).
Although it seems like moving is my new hobby, because this year I’ll make it to twice again (moving to munich at the beginning of the year, and moving to another district of munich next month -which is good, because I don’t change the city once more-), I found a great new diabetes doctor who sent me to her collegue eye doctor immediately.
And… My eyes are still fine, though I’ve been a diabetic for already 16 years now, with a less then ideal (but luckily also always less than catastrophal) blood-glucose management.
I’m so relieved!!! And thankful. And I’m still struggling to get a better A1c, though distractions can always be found easily. (Moving, for example)
Wonderful news about your eyes!
I hate moving myself…did that four times already in my lifetime…not to mention one of those “moves” is halfway across the globe!
I wish you the best on your A1C and your new home.
Avoiding having eye problems is exactly why it is important to go to the eye doc. It’s only once a year ( as long as nothing is wrong) and you always feel better when the doc says you are fine. Good luck working on your A1c, we are always doing that.
Good news! I’m very happy for you.
I have my eye check-up next week. It’s belated, too, as I changed insurance (HMO) and had to get it together to find a new doctor, get records transfered, etc.
But my first cousin just “discovered” for the first time that he is diabetic (type 2) via a retinopathy-related bleed that almost blinded him in one eye.
Catching the proliferation EARLY is what the regular checks is all about, right?
I have mine in two weeks. They call me every year for the dilation. Last year is the first that the doc said he saw some diabetes in my eyes but that if my control got better over the next year it should improve. We’ll see.
Thanks a lot!!!
I wish all of you healthy eyes and good control as well : )
Next time, I’ll go there earlier…
