FreeStyle strips

Hi everyone.!

i recently switched to omnipod, had my first pod started yesterday and i really like it.. after so many years with Medtronic i cant believe i waited this long to finally tubing-free.. anyways, i am used to ordering my supplies(test strips) at once in one place(Medtronic), and as far as i know Insulet doesnt sell the freestyle strips that are use for the pdm/meter..? now is there a place or a company you guys order your test strips? any suggestion and or recommendation is highly appreciated..

thanks guys

Hi Marvin,
I see you are in CA. like us. We order our daughter's FreeStyle strips from Mini Pharmacy. They are located in L.A. Hope this helps. Glad you like your pod! We can't wait to get the new smaller ones!!

It depends on your insurance plan, more than anything. In my case, strips are fulfilled by the plan's pharmacy provider, CVS/Caremark. Also note that there is the Freestyle Promise program that you can sign up for that reduces the copay (or mails you a check if you get them by mailorder)

If you have no insurance or the insurance doesn't care where you get them then you'll probably have to shop around for the lowest price.

Hi Tonya-

im on the new pods and i can tell you they are really small..and they work perfectly.. i have it on my arm which i rarely used with medtronic.. it works great, good absorption.. anyways, i have to check that pharmacy..thank you.. i am excited for you to start on the new pods..

I get mine from www.edgepark.com

HPNpilot-

thanks for reminding me, i forgot my insurance has that pharmacy benefit manager.. ill look into that.. thank you..

Definitely look into this. My strips were $100/month with insurance, as it seems Freestyle is not preferred by most insurances (not enough under the table money I guess.... :( The Promise program makes it very much worth it.

hi Scott-

i have yet to find out how that program works.. any way we can save is worth trying.. :p

My doc gave me a prescription that I took to my local pharmacy. They have an auto-refill program that means I haven't touched a paper prescription in a year or more ... they just arrive at the pharmacy. And even better, they call the doc when my refills are almost up and get a new rx. I realize it's to their benefit to get my things re-upped but it's such a convenience for me that I don't mind.

Welcome to the OmniPod group! I really do love my barnacles (and I'll be even happier with the smaller ones). :)
