Gastroparesis getting worse

So over the past 2 weeks my gastroparesis suddently got really bad. Constant nausea and along with lack of bowel movements. I have been taking laxatives and those dont even seem to work. I think this disease is more frustrating than the type 1 diabetes Ive had for 25 years. I will take any advice any of you have and would love to hear from others who have gastoparesis. Now its at the point its affecting my life because I dont feel good.

So, just to update this, I went to a new G.I. Dr. who also confirmed from my symptoms it is gastroparesis and put me on three meds 2x a day which is reglan, prilosec, and a rx laxative. I am hesitant about taking meds I have had some side effects from them even after just being on them for a few days such as headaches, slight dizziness, and wierd dreams. I know reglan is the rx with the biggest side effects but im only on 5 mg each dose. Is anyone else on this rx? I must say though I had slight stomach pain once over the past few days but nothing like I was having.

Hi Priscilla. We have a group that might be of some help to you: www.tudiabetes.org/group/gastroparesis. Also, perhaps your doctor would send you to a gastroenterologist. Good luck.

So sorry about your gastroparesis.I have this condition too and I know how uncomfortable and sick it can make you.I am taking Domperidone Maleate and my symptoms are now gone.I have been a type 1 for 27 years.I find that chewing really well and several small meals throughout the day helps.I hope this helps.Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. Dr. Bernstein has an extensive discussion of gastroparesis in his book and has a bunch of articles on the topic on his website. He has quite a number of recommendations, things like medications, papaya extract, massage and exercises. It is interesting to note, he does not suggest a laxative.

I have gastroparesis also & live in fear of it worsening. I hate it more than dealing with diabetes. So sorry for what you're going through. Afraid I can't offer help with meds, but know you how feel.

I'm careful about what I eat & can't handle large meals. Red meat's a challenge, so I only eat it in stews, soups & in any way it's slow cooked. Fish & poultry are far easier for me to digest. Pickled foods, which I love, are the simplest for me to digest. I eat a lot of eggs. Make my own protein shakes also. Though raw food's a no-no, I eat salads.

hi priscilla, reglan made me very sleepy & prilosec did not agree w. me or did not help.
i take PHILLIPS PRO-BIOTICS & PSYLLIUM HUSK...that helps me.good luck.
