Glucose tablets

I dislike sugar tablets, mostly because candy, fruit, carb foods, so much tastes better. For years, as diabetic, I use jelly beans, grapes, fruit juice 4-5 oz, or varied foods. But beyond diabetes, I have IBS, and acid reflux, so too many meals, adjustments, adds more acid, hurts my stomach, so I move black to the juice, J.

I agree! Gu is my go-to for lows. Gets in your system fast & they are easy to carry. My favorite flavors are Espresso & Vanilla.

I am allergic to corn and most candies have corn syrup in them, and the tablets/gel have dextrose in them, which is also derived from corn. I did find some sugar candies that I use when I am out, and at home I use honey. A tablespoon of honey or peanut butter and honey on a rice cake, brings me up pretty fast. I also sometimes have a juice box or a granola bar.

I’ve seen this issue a few times recently so I went on a hunt for wheat derived glucose. I found this product and I’m waiting to hear back from a company that has packs made to treat low BG.

This is great. I looked for a non corn glucose for someone else with a corn allergy or intolerance without a good result. I know there are glucose products made from rice, wheat and other grains, but in the US we just love our corn  I wonder what happens to people with this issue in hospital, since the use of dextrose (corn sourced glucose) is ubiquitous.

In California we get Mexican coke. They come in the old glass bottles. Not sure how available it is in the rest of the country.
It’s the only remaining Coca Cola plant that uses cane sugar for sweetener.

The problem with soda or pop is that you only need a swallow or two then it’s going to sit there beckoning you to drink it.

I really don’t like the taste and carb gels with dextrose or pure corn syrup are just fine for me

Thank you for passing on this info! I hadn’t heard of Carb gel, but I am ordering some to have on me for workouts.

I don’t use the tablets as much as I uses to, to get my lows 90 and down , back up
My new go to is a 4oz bottle of low potassium. Cranberry juice.

I buy glucose powder and mix it with boiling water at 100grams per half a litre (500mls) Which means I have 1 gram of glucose per 5ml of liquid. This makes it easy to take and quick to absorb and it’s almost tasteless (not sweet like sugar).

Orange powder form CVS is the bomb

I like maple syrup. Don’t know what configuration of sugar types it is, but it works well for me, and also tastes good enough, but too rich for overconsumption.
