My plateau has given way to a downward slope! Another four pounds is now gone!
The question is: will I meet my "30 by 30" goal? In other words, my hope has been to lose 30 pounds by my 30th birthday, which is a mere ten weeks away. 14 pounds are already gone, so I would need to lose an average of 1.6 lbs per week to be successful. Can I do it?
It's too soon to tell, I think.
In the meantime, I will continue to enjoy the other benefits of low-carbing and regular exercise. I haven't felt the bloat of being super-duper full in about five weeks now. When I do feel full, it's usually not for very long, but then again... I don't seem to get desperately hungry, either. I've reduced my Humalog intake by 75% and my blood sugar levels are much better these days. I don't think I have ever once looked forward to an A1c, but I can't wait to compare the results of the next one to my last (which was 8.1).
In other news, I just ate a S/F York's Peppermint Patty and could hardly believe how good it was. My, how things have changed... I marvel at the number of sugar-free selections in the grocery store! The popsicles alone!!!
Hi Sally Jay:)
Would you like to join me in my quest to lose a bit in the next 30 days? My goal is 3 pounds for 30 days. Your goal can be anything you want and we can encourage each other;)

Wow, your reduction in insulin intake sounds impressive. I’ve been trying to watch what I eat and eat relatively few carbs (usually have some fruit), but I haven’t been successful at losing weight so far. My a1c did drop from 8.1 to 6.7 so that is a good improvement and I hope that it will continue to fall. But I’m struggling on the weight loss front.
Meadow - Sounds great! My goal is probably a little higher, but I’d be thrilled to lose another five pounds within the next month.
Debi - My weight is coming off really slowly, which is a little discouraging at times. Do you get a chance to exercise much? I try to walk every day, even if it’s for just 15 minutes. It helps a lot!
Congrats. I’m happy to hear things are a movin’ and good news about reducing your Humalog. I’m trying to lose 15 lbs. by Dec. 29 (my bro’s wedding), but we’ll see. I’d like to losee 80 pounds by then (LMAO), but I’ll take 15!
Keep us updated.
Oh, you can totally do it! I gave up sugar and white flour as an experience about 8 years ago, and over the course of about 10 weeks, 14 pounds just melted away (with no additional exercise, mind you, just changing my eating habits). If I were still single, I’d do it again in a heartbeat, but with two small kids in the house (and a teenager or two), it’s virtually impossible to give up flour, though I’m giving it a try to go without sugar–would be easier if I could just eliminate it from the house altogether but I can’t.
If you can live without bread & pasta, try cutting out gluten and see if that helps speed things along.
