The results are in!

Just got back from my endo appointment, and I’m pretty happy with the results. Mainly: I’ve lost 20lbs in the past 3 months! Especially considering the fact that this includes the holidays during which I didn’t eat so well or exercise, I’m very pleased. Only thing is that I wish it was about 3 more pounds, so I could be under a certain notch. Oh well–NEXT TIME!

My A1c was about where I expected – 5.3. Which, is down from the 7.4 prior to my pump. So yay there to some degree, of course, I mentioned in my last post about my troubles with low BS, and this is the first thing my doctor mentioned. No big surprise there at all.

Anyway, my doctor was mentioning that they are going to change the A1c scale sometime soon. Meaning, 6 won’t equal 135 mg/dl, 7 won’t equal 170, etc. Which is odd. I don’t know if I caught all what he was saying about it, but he said a 6 might actually equal lower (110) and a 7 higher. Anyone else heard of this?

My doctor was also telling me about a patient of his who has extreme anxiety when her blood sugar is over 100 mg/dl. He said she’d often come into her appointments with her BS in the 30s, and that she would try to be between 40-70 mg/dl throughout the day. I think he was channeling into me a bit and trying to tell me I should back off a little so I don’t become like this. Haha.

Okay, now to get through the rest of the afternoon without splurging on a giant celebration food binge…

wow 5.3! thats amazing, congrats

CONGRATS!! I found your 20 lbs.! If anyone else losing weight would confess, then I’d know where my gains came from!

I have an article from somewhere (if I can find it) about the changing meaning of A1c and if I can figure how to scan it into my computer and forward it on to here, I will share it with you. If not, I guess I’ll just have to keyboard it in.

Thanks, guys!

And thanks Lois, don’t want to make you type up a huge long thing though if it’s too much trouble. I did find a different chart than I’m used to seeing on Wikipedia. I wonder if these are the updated values?
