Have any U.S. users received the new PDM and Pods?

We had to switch from Insulet to Edge Park for our supplies a few months ago because of insurance coverage, but have not heard about the new pods being shipped yet. We are almost out of old ones so hoping to make the switch unless there have been problems. Read that some European users were having lots of occlussions so I was just curious if anyone in the US had started using the new PDM/Pods yet and what their initial feedback was? Thanks!

I talked to Insulet rep last Thursday. He said they are getting new pods/PMDs ready, and he is already using the new one. I explained that I am almost done with my pods and I need to order. He was sure that this will not take long before the new one are available.
I am getting my pods from EdgePark as well. He was not sure when the new stuff will be available there. I decided to order just one box at a time, while waiting.

I talked to 2 new pods users here in US. I am hearing just a positive reviewed: pods are smaller, sit on arm better, etc. No occlusions alert so far.

Frankly, I am not stressing much about the new pods. I don't complain about the one I am using now and anyway sooner or later I will have the new one.

I stopped my regular 3 month shipment, since I had plenty saved up from wearing them the full 80 hours. Will just order a one month supply in a few weeks if I don't get a notice about the new pods.

I am living in the Netehrlands and using the 2nd gen for 3 months now. Only one occlusion and no other problems. Just order per box and wait for your supplier to contact you.

I’m in the UK and have just had another occlusion today while out running, BS was 3.7 on return so obviously another sensitive little pod rather than a true occlusion. I had another occlusion on Friday while playing tennis and just been advised by Ypsomed to get hold of something called Duoderm Phin to help the pod stay on although I’ve had no problem with the Pod not staying on, I think it provides another layer. Apparently these occlusions are a known problem and was told to avoid areas of muscle such as thighs and arms! Like the last box I’ve had again a 50% failure rate and am getting a bit fed up and losing confidence, all high BS’s are as a result of so many post pod changes! I love the size of the new pods but am not at all impressed with the occlusions and that Ypsomed won’t formally acknowledge that there is an issue with them. It seems that many new users haven’t been affected but I certainly have, maybe something to do with the amount of sport I do.

Jane and Herman, can you say how much of an inconvenience (if at all) the new ID screen is? I read in the training module online that you have to confirm this screen for every use of the PDM.

Hi Stacey, while I don’t love the new ID screen and think for me it would be better without it, there are very few Omnipod users in the UK and none who are ever within 5 metres from me, you do actually get used to pressing the confirmation screen. I’ve lost the odd test strip by not acknowledging the screen first but really it’s fine.

Stacey, you have to press (confirm) one button each time you power up the PDM. Safety! Ok but having about 1600 users on 16 million people in the Netherlands, the change of winning the lottery is bigger than finding a Omnipod user within 5 meters. But safety first. You get used to it after a few days it is normal again.
But change is difficult.

It’s unknown – One of life’s greatest fears is the unknown. It causes us to resist those things for which we cannot easily discern an outcome.

It’s challenging – Change stretches us out of our comfort zone.

It’s uncertain – When we change, we are often introducing untested waters. We prefer certainty.

It’s unpopular – The resistance to change is universal.
