Edgepark says I'm getting the new pods

I'm due for a reorder, so as I approved it from Edgepark, I asked about the new pods. The girl I was talking to connected me with the pump/CGM area, and I spoke to a guy who checked things out and said I could get the new pods and PDM. I was out of warranty as of March of last year. I'm not sure what that has to do with it, but they're going to fax some paperwork to my health care provider to get approval for the new pods. We'll see how it goes. I still have 2+ boxes of old pods, so I'm good with waiting a little while.

That's weird. When I called Insulet last week, I was told there is NO WAY we will be getting the new pods in our next order, gong out this month. But, she said, "maybe in July" when our next 3 month supply is scheduled to be shipped. I'm very frustrated that we have been waiting for these things for almost 3 years, but brand new OP users already have the next gen pods. And we aren't even sure if we will see them in July. Just "maybe."

Were you ever contacted by Insulet either by phone or email? They seemed pretty adamant that they would let me know when it was time for me to get the new pods, and that there was no way they could tell me when that would be. I'm interested to know if it's maybe something that can be resolved by the supplier without needing Insulet to intervene at all, i.e. they have them in stock "for new users" but have no qualms about sending a supply to existing users.

Please let us know. I'm curious about Insulet's actual involvement in getting the new gear out to us.

I contacted them, because I knew our next 3 month supply would be shipped sometime in April. I wanted to find out if, by chance, we would be receiving the new pods this time. (I also wanted to know so I could prepare our 6 yr old daughter for disappointment ahead of time if they were not on their way yet. She and we have been REALLY anxious to get the smaller pods since she started podding the day after her 4th b-day, and the rep told us they would be coming out "very soon.") I realize the great delay was caused by the FDA, not Insulet. I was told by the Insulet rep I spoke to last week that "existing users are expected to be transitioned to the next gen pods within 3 to 6 months." No definite schedule, apparently.
I hope you can get them faster through Edgepark. Maybe we should switch back to a 3rd party supplier, as well.

I am due for a shipment next week…I asked about the new pods, this is insulet.
They said there is no date yet…

Insulet never contacted me, but when I was on hold with Edgepark there was a recording that talked about getting the new pods that indicated any existing user could order them. Although it seems to be in the works, I’ll believe it when they show up at my door.

I just spoke with Edgepark, and they are shipping the new pods, probably today. I am paying for a new PDM because mine is out of warranty. I'm not sure how that works, but with my insurance coverage, it's only $50. I thought we were getting them free, but whatever. I should have the new stuff in hand by the first of the week. I still have nearly two full boxes of the old pods, so I'll probably try a few new ones just to see how they do and go back to the old ones until I use up my supply. Maybe I'll keep a few old ones and the old PDM as backup.

Lucky!! We are very envious. Our shipment of old pods came a few days ago... Hopefully they will send us the new ones next time, "maybe in July," as the Insulet CS rep told me. Please let us know what you think of the new ones.
