I started on the Dexcom a couple of days ago and am wondering if anyone in the group has successfully used a "Windows for Mac" program to download information from the Dexcom. I am currently frustrated that both Minimed and Dexcom seem to only be downloadable to a Windows-based PC. If anyone has any suggestions as to the best way to retrieve information off of either device, and as to whether Windows compatible software actually works with these devices, I'd would greatly appreciate it. Hate to buy a new computer, but it may come to that, as the devices are only so useful if you can't get information from them.
On another note, do people enter the bulk of their information (carbs, insulin etc.,) on their Dexcom, on their pumps, or on both? Trying to figure out the best way to capture all the valuable information.
The old Dexcom software was Mac compatible. However, if you have Dexcom Seven, the new software is only for Windows. It sucks. I am a Mac user too and I had to install Windows just because of Dexcom. I hope they make a version for Mac in the next generation of Dexcom sensors because transferring Dexcom data from Windows to Mac via Word or PDF is pain in the *ss.
Thank you both. I am in the process of dowloading a free trial of VMware fusion 3. Have never used such software, but hoping it’s pretty fool-proof. I will have to figure out how to best synthesize the data. It seems like if I could put it all in the pump it would be easier, as the boluses and carbs already go in there. Any further pointers are welcome.
