Hi Cathy, nice to meet you here, well I would rather not have met you here, but as it is welcome to TuD. There are lots of interesting groups here for you to browse round and find something that interests you. Just click on 'groups' in the header bar and you will see what a big selection there is.

Pastel painter,
Since I am new to this, I'm not sure my last reply was posted. In summary, I am a Ceramic Artist and Photographer. I hope we can share our art someday. When I can figure out how to do it, at least online. Some of my work is on my web page.

Welcome Cathy. There's lots to learn and it's different for each one of us. I say that after being diagnosed as Type 2 three years ago.

Corinna, I am type 2 also, diagnosed in 1993. It's progressed so now I take insulin and have the beginnings of peripheral Neuropathy. I can see this is going to be a great place to meet and share ideas.

Thank you for such a warm welcome! I am so pleased to find you and indeed will recommend other Diabetic friends to check your sight.
I've experienced some trouble navigating this site but am working my way through. the trouble is from my inabilities with computers. So far, advice I have taken from the friends here has really helped my Neuropathy situation. As well as given my something to talk with my specialists about.

bsc,

My profile gives Herndon in Northern Virginia.

Hi Cathy - Welcome !!!! We are all here for each other. To give support and share info. Be sure to join the Type 2 group. I think you will find many other T-2 people to learn from and with.

I am a type 2 as well and started insulin a year ago last december. It has made a big difference in my control. I follow a full basal/bolus regime.

I'm sorry to hear about your neuropathy. It can be painful and debilitating. However, I believe that by controlling your blood sugar you can not only stop the progress, but over time you may well be able to heal from this. There are a variety of supplements that may help such as Alpha Lipoic Acid and Benfotiamine.
