How to make managing D look easy!

I’m in the throes of an allergy/sinus/coughing crisis. I have my first cataract surgery next Tuesday and really, really don’t want to postpone it. My PCP has been great. Started me last Tues. on amoxi, steroid inhaler and antihistamine inhaler. No rise in BG from the inhaled steroids, woohoo!

Thursday when I was no better she added z-pack (no more amoxi), advair and inhaled steroids in addition to the nasal sprays. She called me Friday to check in (I have a GREAT pcp) and we discussed moving on to oral steroids. Decided not to, as I was somewhat better. Of course the inhaled steroids are whacking out my BG.

Today I started 3 different eye drops to prep for cataract surgery. I gave up on correction boluses alone and am doing a 50%+ temp basal (probably not enough, we’ll see)

So… 2 eye drops 4x a day, one eye drop once a day, z-pack once a day, steroid inhaler every 4 hours, advair once a day, steroid nasal spray once a day, antihistamine nasal spray twice a day… oh yeah, and D management. I have a written schedule. I’ve always loved my dexcom but it’s been a better than ever tool the past few days, and amazingly accurate.

D management alone looks so easy right now:)

Doesn’t it. Are you sure you don’t need to add another drug in there somewhere :).

I had cataract surgery a number of years ago and I don’t remember having to use eye drops before. But, I know that cases are different. Good luck.

Thanks Ila. A tranquilizer might help, then I could just sleep tlll Tuesday LOL

I’ve spoken with a number of people; it seems every doc does it differently.
