A few days ago I went in for one of my regular visits. I was just looking through the results from the lab tests they ran for that visit and a new one has popped up in the mix.
Test Name: TISSUE TRANSGLUTAMINASE AB.IGA
Result: <2
Units: U/mL
Reference Range: 0-3
Lab Test: Transglutaminase Tissue
Interpretation: Negative 0 - 3; Weak Positive 4 - 10; Positive >10
I glanced very quickly at a Wikipedia article which included: “tTG is best known for its link with celiac disease”. But there was a lot I knew I was not going to understand in that article so I may be misinterpreting and/or missing something.
Does anyone know more about this test? Is there any reason it would be given to a diabetic? Just curious why they might have decided to take a look at this.
When I bake bread I add extra gluten because I like my bread “chewy”. Celiac has definitely never been a concern for me.
