I dnt understand

ok so i dnt understand this...

wen my sugar is high..it takes me a while to relize it cuz i dnt get any of the signs

but wen my sugar is normal..i feel weak.

i dnt understand that.

Well, sometimes when we spend too much time high, the body gets used to that feeling… it becomes it’s new ‘normal’ range, so much so, that when you start dropping below that range, you will feel weird. It takes some getting used to…

Hi Kristyna. Im not very sure if this is even related, but a few weeks after my initial diagnosis of type 2, my blood sugar can go as high as 180 to 200 and I wasn’t also feeling the classic signs of high blood sugar. And yet when my blood sugar was in the range of 100 and below, I will feel shaky ,disoriented , etc. When I asked my endo, she said that my body was so used to high sugar levels that I am already desensitized and unresponsive to the symptoms. Situations greatly improved though after a few months of strict bg control: low carb diet, exercise and medication.

yea, well my body has become imune to the high sugar so i guess thats y. i was pre-diabetic for YEARS so but i was never diagnosed until i went to the hospital and my sugar was over 1000.

The posts are right, you can not always rely on the way you feel…keep testing! I’m a T1 and I find staying on schedule with meals and sleep helps me validate the way my body is feeling with high or low BG’s. Stay positive!

Unless you haven’t been told this, diabetics react differently to symptoms of highs and lows. Some people can tell, some can’t. I know immediately when I am low, I feel sick like the flu. I know when things are high, because all I want to do is sleep. But I have to test, to give you a correct number. So keep testing. This isn’t rocket science, and because one person can tell — another won’t be able to ----it’s the reaction of our body to what the pancreas is doing…so keep testing…and don’t rely on just feeling.
