I hate my life guess i just need to vent

when i do the dance thing, which has worked, i go to youtube and google my favorite dance songs like ‘gonna make you sweat’ and ‘just dance’. then i learn try to follow the dance routine!! it’s hilarious. the crying thing is good because i generally feel better afterwards, but i don’t use movies or songs to make me cry harder- just whatever’s bothering me. but using a sad movie may be a strategy to try…

i dance sometimes. i like to run or jog when i want to take my mind off of something.

It doesn’t take much for some to get their panties in a twist. Had you read my introductory comment you would know that I have been an ICU nurse at the largest teaching hospital in the south for 30 years. Yes, Celiac disease is another fad that those in the food industry use to sell gluten free products . Much has been written through varies media sites giving every symptom under the sun to convince people that they cannot tolerate gluten. Only a very small (like 1%) of the population actually has Ceiac disease and it can only be diagnosed via gastric biopsy which both my brother and I and our other two siblings have undergone. My other brother and sister tested negative.

But people, before you post an absolute about the human body, remember that the only absolute is that someday you will die. Every one is preciously unique. And if you 're-read my statement, you will see that I said that if one remained gluten free that there was a possibility to add gluten in small amounts. The catch is to be totally free of gluten. Unfortunately, unless it states it on the package, it probably has some form of wheat, rye or barley in it or used in the manufacturing process. I mean hard candy, soy sauce, blue cheese, medication, cosmetics and the list goes on. When you eat out, cross contamination in the kitchen is a real possibility.

By the time most individuals have been checked for Celiac Disease they are in a hurricane of inflammation. They did not get there overnight. If you, and my brother and I have, remain gluten free until the hurricane has played out, you may be one of those people who can once again have a licorice stick.

If you go gluten free for a period of time, you will not be able to have the biopsy and definitive diagnosis. Have you already had a biopsy? If so, then going gluten free will help you feel a lot better.

With celiac, even microscopic amounts of gluten will make you ill for awhile. That means having your own pans and plates, your own jelly (other people’s knives will have gluten from bread) etc. and avoiding hidden gluten in foods such as maltodextrin or caramel coloring. Cross contamination in restaurants can be a problem: for instance, French Fries cooked in the same oil as battered fried foods. Celiac.com is a good resource. Hamburgers need to be grilled on a spot where rolls have not been warmed.

That said, these days celiac is not that hard to deal with. There are many gluten free products. For bread, I recommend Canyon Bakehouse (great bread), and Udi’s makes great muffins and cookies. Annie’s make great pizzas and mac and cheese. Lots of options, just read labels. One health bar comes in gluten free and “wheat free” and we did not notice: they were all in the gluten free section. Well, we learned the hard way that wheat free is not the same as gluten free!

I promise things will get better once you get used to this, and you will feel better too.

One of my kids (mid 20’s) had an accident with a bad injury. Several friends and a boyfriend disappeared. Others proved themselves as friends and human beings. Troubles like yours are a good filter for people.

Another to watch out for is modified food starch (tho’ sometimes corn is specified).

As a nurse, I’m really surprised at your response to some genuinely concerned posts. It’s not about getting my panties in a twist—it’s about making sure people aren’t damaging their health!

I’m not sure why you are talking about gluten sensitivity or the way gluten has been hyped by the media as unhealthy. The food industry has been catering to the huge numbers of people avoiding gluten for fad diets or self-diagnosed “gluten allergy”—but that’s completely irrelevant to the discussion. We’ve been talking about the 1% of people who have genuine celiac disease all along.

Everyone with celiac disease is instructed to go completely off gluten, including being educated about cross contamination and reading product labels and calling manufacturers. I don’t know what “the catch” that you think people are missing is.

Can you cite a few sources that document (via blood tests and biopsy) celiac disease going into remission after a few months of avoidance and remaining in remission despite exposure to small amounts of gluten? As far as I’m aware (and from my experience, not with celiac disease but with an anaphylactic food allergy and a somewhat similar autoimmune condition) the immune system doesn’t just “forget” and stop attacking something because it’s avoided for a few months.

If all you have is that you and your brother did it and don’t have symptoms, then in my opinion that’s not worth much because symptoms alone don’t indicate whether there’s damage occurring that could lead to long-term complications. In the case of celiac disease the autoimmune attack to gluten doesn’t always cause symptoms, so just assuming that you’re fine because you have no symptoms when you expose yourself to small amounts of gluten can be misleading and dangerous.

As a physician, I am backing up everything Jen just posted. Not that this, or being a nurse, or even an ICU nurse, should matter. Right is right! Period.

I should clarify: I’m not a nurse and don’t work in healthcare; I was referring to @TexasDeedster. That sentence sounds confusing now that I re-read it.

true i was told i have to go completely off gluten.

Hello erice
Single because of diabetes… wow better not tell my wife. Hey, she was the wrong one, if she used that as her excuse.

Sorry sweetie, no I am cured, no only me, take me back??? Sounds like a flimsy excuse to me. But if not… wow.

There are hundreds of us, thousands who are in good relationships, diabetes is only one challenge. But you share them, the big, the small, the dopey…

Single is not horrible, not always. Lot of people to share with… Lot to learn about ourselves. What we want, what we need… things you don’t want to compromise. Responsible to yourself alone. Not all bad at all. It will get better… there are many who want you, all your bumps, imperfections big/small included. You will find a new.playmate, give yourself some time.

this is what she told. why should i be yours gf you are nothing to me now. maybe if you don’t have Diabetes i stay with you. there more to it. but i trying my best it forget about her. so doing this Little bit about it. makes me upset. & as for now i’m staying Single. you did nothing wrong by talking about it.

A million years ago my boyfriend’s mother told him that I “could never have children” and that I “won’t live past age 50”. I proved her wrong on both counts. Also broke up with her ‘wild child’ son.

I have 2 healthy sons and am 67, being
T1 since age 16.
I have experienced depression, confusion, anger in trying to live and cope with diabetes. Make no mistake, this is truly a devastating disease. However, I’ve also been rewarded upon coming out of an over-night hypo to hear birds chirping outside my window. I joyously thank God that I’m alive.
I experience pure love and extreme happiness spending time with my grandsons.
I believe diabetics are soldiers of sorts. The act of surviving is our “fight song.”

Albert Camu, an existential philosopher said, what I constantly remember, when faced with obstacles that seem to be in-
surmountable,
“In the midst of Winter, I finally learned
that within me there lay an Invincible Summer.”
