Welcome to TuD boileman. Helping each other out is what TuD is all about.
Can you perhaps say more about how we can help you and what is going on for you?
Lately I feel like I am over drugged . I know that I have to be onthe morphine forever but 3 water pills? I just don’t know enough to talk to the dr’s
Do you mean insulin and not morphine?
Sometimes when you see lots of different doctors, they all put you on a couple of drugs. And a couple here, a couple there and it adds up and all together it becomes even worse than not taking the drugs. Do you have a single doctor that you trust that can go through all the drugs you are on and try to simply this and minimize adverse effects?
Hi Boilerman. I looked at your page and saw you mention going to the hospital and being put on some drugs there. This happens a lot and then the person is on drugs that may have just been meant for a crisis and even drugs that overlap or contradict other drugs. I was told by a doctor that when you approach 10 drugs you are on too many and negative results can happen. Some people do be need to be on multiple drugs (I'm on 7 and I'm not even sick..lol)! But it's really important to have someone oversee it.
I second Brian's suggestion. I would go to your PCP and bring a list of all the meds you are currently taking (make one ASAP if you don't have one) and talk with him/her about the fact that you feel over-medicated. That could be dangerous and is no way to go through life.
Hi boilerman,
I saw a post where you listed a boat load of drugs. There were indeed a lot of them. I don't think a forum can help determine which are necessary, safe, or will 'fix' whatever they were prescribed for.
I would like to suggest that you take that list to your pharmacist and ask what each one does, if there are any contradictions, if there are any duplicate products, etc.
Also, you should make sure your doctors have this list, if you are getting prescriptions from various docs as Brian indicated, they NEED to know what you are already taking. Good luck.
Boilerman, this would be a good time to get someone in your life to act as an advocate. I know when my sugars are nuts I can’t really think straight, and if you’ve had trauma recently maybe you aren’t too sure about Exactly what’s going on. Have your Meds in a bag and go to your pharmacy to have them explain what each does, and to check for interactions, etc, like Zoe said. Maybe you can go during a weekday as they usually have more senior people on then and they don’t seem to be so busy so maybe they can take a lot of time to explain things to you. If you don’t have that advocate available you’ve got to start working on getting one. I am not sure what is available to you where you live, but a crisis hotline is where I’d start.
Thanks to all that have replied so far. They must do things different where ever most of you are at. Here NO Pharmacy will do that for you. Take time to talk to you .Heck you are lucky if they will say hello to you. The majority of my drugs are by mail anyway with the exception of the narcatics & Insulin . I get them at a local pharmacy.
