I Wish Blood Glucose Meter Companies

Bayer offers free cases ( sleeve and wallet ) just try to take advantage of this offer. They also need to improve their Customer Services reps… These people make you feel like you are interrupting their coffee break or lunch. Where is the Wage and Hour here. What they really need to do is restyle their cases for the small meters ( USB ) and put smaller test strip containers so everything fits easily into case.

Bayer is only offering sleeves or wallets for people who are just now registering a new meter. Those of us who have a meter and have been using it a while are just SOL or Shoot Out of Luck. I will have to purchase another meter just to get the wallet or sleeve. Thank you but no thank you. I will pass. After being on the phone with them for over an hour and being made feel like I am an idiot they can keep their stuff.

Do they not realize how much money they make off of a Type 1 Diabetic on a pump? I am supposed to test 8-12 times a day. They make their money back in just a 2-3 month supply of test strips. I love the usb part of the meter but it is not worth the hassle.

I hope that One Touch gets the message and comes out with a USB meter.

One touch is like the 1000lb gorilla in the room. At least when it comes to meters… they dont seem to care about innovating or even updating their strips, or using standards… there is ONE meter in development right now and it is relatively lame by comparison (The Lifescan Verio)…(its available in the netherlands right now)… A standard or semi-standard USB cable… Whats that… Color display or an improved version of the OneTouch Ultrasmart… Nope… I have more respect for the other players in the market, with ideas like the Contour USB (small sample, color screen and standard connectivity) and the Color Ping Remote (not avalible in US, of course)…but even the Color Ping uses 1uL of blood… Better meters use half that or less (0.5mL,0.4mL, 0.3mL)…Things like reminder alarms, or countdown from last test… Wheres this stuff…
