I use the Inset straight sets. I opened a new box of infusion sets on Friday evening when I changed my site and cartridge out. Since Friday, I’ve had rising blood sugars and have changed the infusion set three times, Saturday night, 5:30 this morning and 9:30 this morning. Each time, the cannula was bent. Is it possible to get a bad box of infusion sets? I had some of this type of problem a few months ago, but my sets have been fine lately.
Wow weird! I would definitely call Animas about that! Let us know what they say.
They said it wasn’t a bad set…must be site selection problem or technique. I’m not sure how my technique is causing a problem since it hasn’t been a problem since this box, but that’s their answer. She suggested that I try a steel set instead of the insets that i’ve been using. I’ll talk to my CDE and Animas rep tomorrow and Tuesday (CDE off on Mon)
I would definately call the rep and get them shipped you another box of infusion sets. It sure seems a defective box
Wow that isn’t good. Did you rotate the sites? My exp is the canula only bends when A) I hit scar tissue or B) the set is the problem and if you had 3 of them I would lean towards the sets vs the sites. Will they replace them?
Good to know that though as I use those sets as well.
Yep, I rotate my sites every time. Animas suggested that I check out their steel set. That usually this is a technique or site problem, not a problem with the infusion set itself. They also said it could be scar tissue or that I’m hitting up against a muscle. I was on MDI for 10 years before my pump last fall, so I’m sure there is some scar tissue. I’ll check out the steel set, but I’ve also got a call into my CDE to see about sets from different manufacturers. I find it interesting that I haven’t had this problem in the last few months until I opened this box of sets and then had a problem with the first 3 out of the same box.
I would continue to push Animas, calling them back and asking that you be sent a different box of sets. This sounds very much like a set problem, not a site problem!
