Interesting. I don’t use a CGM, but I am a podder. So I assume it’s the same procedure. Another question, how does it feel when you are sitting or driving. That’s probably my main concern. I’ve heard of other’s doing this, but never figure out how they do it and feel comfortable. Thanks for the input. Any chance you use your legs too? I’ve kind of wondered about that. God, us diabetics are weird. Can you imagine someone who is lucky enough not to worry about these things. :}
so if i waned to put the dexcom 7 sensor in my thigh–front or side??(whats better…i dont have a lot of meat on me) i should put it in horizontal when standing?left to right not up and down??
I’ve successfully worn it a few times at the top/back of my arm, where there’s a little bit of chubbiness available. The “downside” has been that you need someone’s help to insert the transmitter. We insert it with the plunger pointing towards the abdomen (downwards).
Unlike non-POD, leg-attached infusion sets (with tubes), Dexcom Sensor/Trasnmitter asseblies have nothing to unplug and plug-back-together when you pull your pants down (or up). Jon, unless you’re wearing scandalously tight leotards, they’ll just slide right past the Sensor Pad and Transmitter Clip assembly.
If you’re working as a Chippendale Dancer, well, yes, there might be some issues.
Jon, I just wrote a longer post to the original start of the Thread (and it covers both of these subjects). Your site needs to be well ABOVE any contact with seat cushions, Shannon’s described it perfectly. (Not to high, either-- you gotta be within a “meaty” part, not a “bony” part.) You can insert a ways over to the outside, as long as you stay away from the hip ball socket (which you can locate by rising form a chair).
If you do it to the outside of a cheek, you can probably see what you’re doing with just a single mirror, turning your body and head to get a good view. But you can also use two mirrors, looking at the “offset” mirror in front of you while your butt is facing the bigger mirror behind you. You’ll catch on to seeing your hand move backwards after just a few seconds, then it’s a piece of Cake.
I switch between both sides of my stomach and upper part of butt
