Today at work I suddenly felt really sick. BG was 98 before lunch so it wasn't that.
Running to the potty a lot, oops, could it be a urinary tract infection? Called the doctor, sorry no appointments today, go to Urgent Care.
Went to Urgent Care, peed in a cup, now on antibiotics. The very very nice doc even wrote me a refill.
Now for the funny part. The medical assistant (I refuse to believe she could be a nurse) took my blood pressure, temp, etc. and then went over my current medications on computer. Looking at me funny she asked "What is Humalog and why would it come out of a pen?" So many answers came to mind but I simply educated her about insulin pens. "How cute," she replied.
Yeah, there is nothing cuter than an insulin pen. lol
that’s kind of scary! i hope they don’t let her use any sharp things/needles on patients!
hope you feel better soon <3
Thanks Virtue. I just hope she’s not in charge of anything.
When I was in the hospital one time, I had a nurse who wanted to mix lantus and humalog in the same syringe. I told her lantus was not suppose to be mixed, she didn’t believe me and had to go check with someone before she would give me the doses in two separate syringes. And these are people who could have our lives in their hands?
I did mention it to the Dr, and on the patient satisfaction survey.
Binky. Save us all from ignorant nurses. When my daughter was in the hospital with a brain tumor her seizure med level was too high and they were supposed to hold the dose. The nurse tried to give it anyway and I had to throw a fit to get her supervisor in there.
