Any update on the release of Jewel Insulin Pump in US. Can’t wait - correlated to Smart Phone and tubeless.
Is this something new for the US ? Where do I find info ???

Interesting. I would have serious reservations about using something that is controlled via my cell phone. What if my cell dies? What if it malfunctions. I don't know, it's an interesting concept and could definitely make pumping more accessible for people, but I would really want to see it in action first.
I am happy to see other pumps enter the market. They all offer something a little different, which is cool too. It means that there is something for everyone.
Years pass and no word on the Jewel Pump getting clearance. I think most pumpers would want something integrated through a smart phone, discrete and tubeless. Having said that I am happy as a clam w/ my Dexcom CGMS and finally got the Omnipod. Using the pod PDM I see the issues w/ it and long for everything I want in a pump...or to finally be cured.
There's nothing useful on the Debiotech (company who makes the Jewel) homepage as to when the Jewel will be available in the US, aside from they have yet to submit for clearance from the FDA. I wouldn't hold my breath. As of October 2012 it still undergoing review at the CE (European version of the FDA). Debiotech- Jewel pump
And the Solo, while a cool idea, since being sold in 2010 to Roche is dead in the water- they have no plans to bring forward into production despite already having FDA approval, until they figure out a way to make it "cooler", ie integrates with a CGM or at least a BG monitor, because right now it does neither. Solo Micropump
I think with the increasing awareness of pumps being state of the art treatment for Diabetes, there are going to be an influx of new pumps. Like all new technology, it's usually best to wait a bit both for the kinks to be worked out (I got stuck with Vista a month or two after it came out...that was not fun!) and to hear reviews on how it functions in real world use.
