Legs

How many of us suffer from leg cramps and/or Restless Leg Syndrome? Type 1 or 2 or other? Taking Lipitor? Thoughts on causes or tips for relief?

Hi Elaine, I am Type 1. I was started on Lipitor four weeks ago. It lasted one week. When I would stand in the kitchen, or go to bed at night my legs hurt like I had just ran a mile. I stoped the Lipitor and a couple days later the “hurting” stoped. It was not like cramps, but just muscle achs. I know it took several days for the Lipitor to get out of my system so a few days latter they were better and I could rest again at night. I am waiting for my next appt with my endo to start on something else. I know there are other drugs out there we can take that does not have such side effects. Good luck.

Pat…I know that Lipitor has that effect on some. I have read that it can deplete your CoQ10 so some physicians recommend supplementing with CoQ10 or Ubiquinol, the body ready form, if you are taking it. You were smart to stop the Lipitor quickly, I’d guess. Good luck to you too.

I guess my guestion is are we as diabetics more prone to either? If so T1’s (me) or all of us? I have had RLS for most of my adult life…many, many years before diagnoses. I wonder if there is a connection. I also have lots of leg cramps since diagnoses. Are others seeing the samr thing?
