Like a River Glorious

This hymn gives me rest when under the stress of diabetes. Written by Frances Havergal in 1876. My question: Do you have a favorite song that gives you rest when under the stress of diabetes. I would like to see how you get that rest.

Here’s a similar thread you might check out! It’s from last year.

Strangely enough, there’s not a song that I associate with diabetes. I’m a professional singer, so you’d think I’d have something. But I guess being both a musician and a diabetic most of my life, I’ve never really compartmentalized diabetes like that. I think any James Taylor can de-stress me though. He’s just about the most mellow singer ever, but I have always loved him. My all-time favorite song is his “Something in the Way She Moves.”

Mellissa, I can’t think of a song either that I would want to associate with diabetes.I was speaking of being released from the stress by the loving relationship one can have with God. The spirit can be grieved by our afflictions while at the same time be comforted by the meaningful words of some of our great hymnwriters who, too, were afflicted. Frances Havergal was dying when she wrote the hymn, “Like a River Glorious.”

Barbie, I understood what you were saying. I was just commenting that there is not a specific song that relieves stress for me when it comes to diabetes.

Barbie:

Neil Young, Out of the black and into the blue.

It’s better to burn out then it is to rust

That line form that song was on the radio when I left the hospital the first time with diabetes. I was 17 and i will never forget it. It has really changed meaning for me over the years. But you know i think it is true. I will never rust.
