Loop with "older" iPhone?

@trying @mohe0001 Can you give me a little more information on what you’re referring to when you mention jojo-beeps? I don’t see that specific branch in main Loop gitlab… is that a separate repository?

Yes, jojo-beeps is a repo Katie made available at her github site. Unfortunately, she has removed ii so it is no longer available.

I’m on this one. I think they merged some of the functionality from jojo beeps into this branch already. I need to be careful with my language. I keep calling this the ‘Master branch,’ because I think of it as the Master Omnipod branch. I need to watch my language.

Thanks! I was snooping around the source code yesterday, can’t wait to tinker

There’s a lot of it. LOL

You’ve had enough replies by now I’m sure but I successfully looped with an iPhone 6 and a (borrowed!) Apple watch 0. All very possible!

So glad to hear you are climbing on board. Please keep us informed.

The main reason I went with JoJo Beeps was because I really liked hearing the beeps before bolus was delivered and upon completion.

Katie pulled her versions because she got tired of all the complaining and bickering of people who didn’t read the directions completely. She finally recently relented and put them back up but is taking a break and not updating them at all right now and unsure if she ever will.

I’m rocking a 32GB SE as my 2nd phone. I still use Xdrip+ on my Galaxy S10+ and huwawei watch / night scout to see my sugars on my watch and in a browser window while at work.

I was also fortunate enough to get into the study when adults were still allowed. Got a $50 amazon gift card and free A1C for baseline. At the end of a year, I get another A1C to compare and another $50 GC and some extra cards for short weekly results and giving my data to them via tidepool. Very easy study. The first one I’ve ever been a part of actually.

Got RIleyLink in mail yesterday and thankfully it was time to change pump :grinning:… Seemed to work pretty good, and see how ppl would miss PDM beeps.

I signed up for FB referenced above, is that the best place for discussion on Loop, or is there another site better for questions?

On Day 4 now and wanted to give you guys a shout out for all your tips and help! Couple of observations so far:

  • When I had heard about closed loop some time ago I was excited until I read generally it only covered basal tweaks. I thought this was underwhelming and wouldn’t matter but boy was I wrong-- just the lessening of the cognitive burden knowing that if my blood sugar is sort of in the neighborhood of where I want it to be that Loop will take care of “landing the plane” has been awesome. I don’t have to worry about micromanaging insulin to specific number.
  • It’s been a godsend overnight. Have always struggled with basal settings because of the total randomness and not wanting to be woken up because I was too aggressive. I don’t think I’ve had a morning yet that I wasn’t hovering around 100 when I woke up.
  • I hated that OmniPod PDM, so glad I don’t have to carry around. “Hey what is that, a beeper?”
  • The gears in my programmer brain are starting to turn now and can’t wait to dabble with making some tweaks

Thanks again!!

Just a heads up about your possible future. I gained 10 lbs in the last 3 months and haven’t adjusted my basals at all. loop has been doing fine at auto adjusting and I still run in range. But, if I open the loop the basals are so off that I run 300. When BT fails, things go pretty haywire. So, I kinda wish that I had run open loop and re-adjusted the basals sooner, before things got so far off the mark. Its been about 2 months since I adjusted my basals.

I’m glad that things are going so well. Let me know how your Doc accesses the data. Mine wont go through Tidepool, so it will be super labor intensive to provide him with data.

Hi Jason. I’ve been Looping about a year and a half. The Facebook site is great. You can obtain a mentor/helper there, research a question or problem or just read others posts. The Loop documents are the primary source of info but over time as you read the Facebook site you’ll remember names of people whose words impact you. Also look for other Loopers in nearby vicinities. People meet up, thru Zoom or otherwise. That is helpful too. Best! Kim
