So, after a lot of contemplation and for a few specific reasons, I took the leap and upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I must say, it’s a sleek and fun device! However, I’ve hit a snag with the new iOS – it’s not yet compatible with the t:connect and Dexcom apps. I had a heads-up about this before making the purchase and knew I’d temporarily lose the ability to bolus from my phone. It wasn’t a deal-breaker given my need to upgrade. I’ve been relying on my pump as the display and for administering a bolus. It’s not the worst thing in the world, but I’m definitely eager to get back to the convenience of using my phone for these tasks.
Has anyone here caught wind of any rumors or timelines regarding when Tandem and Dexcom might finish testing their apps against the latest iOS update?
Good to hear from you again, Mike. I can’t answer what you’re asking but I’m in a related situation. I just bought the iPhone 15 Pro and use the DIY Loop. While the community online says that latest Loop software is compatible with iPhone’s iOS 17.x.x, the standard advice is to wait and let more advanced users test the water.
So that leaves me with my old iPhone XR with Loop running and the new iPhone 15 for phone service and everything else. Two phones are not better than one!
Good luck sorting out your Tandem and Dexcom issues. I hope they don’t keep you waiting too long!
Terry! I’m a TuDiabetes lurker…so I feel like I’ve heard from you more recently than you likely feel like you’ve heard from me. I’m happy that you’re doing well. Sorry to hear about Norm’s passing, but you were both so lucky to have found one another.
I could actually hold onto my previous iPhone too and use that for the t:connect/dexcom screen. I may do that if/when I need to wear a suit or tight pants where I’d normally tuck the pump into my undershirt that is hard to access.
Glaciers move faster than Dexcom updating its supported devices and OS lists. I haven’t found any reports of the Dexcom apps not working with iOS 17 yet. Dexcom has had the beta version of iOS 17 for at least 6 months so they can post a warning if there is a problem, like they did when iOS changed the notification framework 3ish years ago.
I have an iPhone 14 Pro and Dexcom G6. The only issues I have is sometimes when adding Events the “Home” (left) and “Edit” (right) buttons slide up a little and the touch target for them is small. If you restart the app it’s back to normal for a while.
No connectivity issues with transmitter.
Biggest issue for me is Apple watch complication has tiny text.
Extra:
In the last 5 years I’ve probably upgraded phones 3 times. I also always update iOS on the first day. I’ve never had Dexcom not work. Sometimes there are issues but they are normally visual and not stopping me from using the app.
That little circle for BS on watch is frustrating. I thought was me! If I tap on it it shows the graph bit is a pain. I had a series 3 and not problem and upgraded to series 6 and have the tiny complication on face. Annoying.
I am running iOS 17.0.2 on an iPhone 12 and Dexcom G7 app and Tidepool loop app both running fine. Newer iPhone should not matter, as it is the OS version that matters most.
