Lots of training...Ironman is getting closer!

Saturday 9th January

Cycled 100km up the Akatarawa’s with Mark in 4.12hours. I then attempted a 70min run off the bike but only managed 1km.

Tuesday 12th January

Swam 3km with Sarah and Mark at Huia Pool. I consumed 3/4 bottle of powerade.

I did 34.23mins and got 6th in W30 - 39yrs. It was a scrappy swim and I found myself surrounded by women who felt the need to swim into me every 5 stroke.

Thursday 14th January

Swam 3km with Sarah and Mark at Huia Pool. I consumed 3/4 bottle of powerade.

Friday 15th January

Swam 2.15km with Sarah and Mark at Huia Pool. I consumed 3/4 bottle of powerade.

Monday 18th January

Ran 23.66km in 2.21hours. This was my long slow run of the week and it went really well.

Tuesday 19th January

Session 1 - Cycled 65km around the bays in 2.20hours. I consumed 2 bottles of powerade.

Session 2 - Swam at squad 3.7km (including 30mins pre-squad). I consumed 3/4 bottle of powerade.

Wednesday 20th January

Cycled 60km out to Eastbourne and then to the Terrace (to pick up Mark from work) in 2.15hours. I consumed 1 1/2 bottles of powerade.

Thursday 21st January

Session 1 - Ran 6km in 32mins up and down Korokoro Road…was very tired so didn’t do the distance I was supposed to.

Session 2 - Swam at squad 3.5km (including 45mins pre-squad). It was out 750m time trial session and I did a 25sec PB…12.34mins. I consumed 3/4 bottle of powerade.

Saturday 23rd January

Swam 3km with Mark at Huia Pool. I consumed 1/2 bottle of powerade.

Cycled 70km around Whitemans Valley with Mark 2.52hours. I consumed 1 x muesli bar and 2 x bottles of powerade.

Monday 25th January (WELLINGTON ANNIVERSARY)

Cycled 100km over the Hayward/Plimmerton/Johnsonville/Ngauranga/Oriental Bay/Lyall Bay/Korokoro with Mark for 4.15hours. I consumed 1/2 powerbar, 1 x museli bar and 1 1/2 bottles of powerade.

Tuesday 26th January

Cycled 62km around the bays in 2.30hours. I consumed 1/2 powerbar and 1 1/2 bottles of powerade.

Joe…I really don’t like bricks anymore…used to do a lot of them but truthfully I live on top of a massive hill and hate having to run up and down so many times. Bricks are really good for Ironman though.
