MIsplaced PDM

Guess what I could not find yesterday and was getting rather alarmed!?
My PDM, so I am off to buy one of those electronic things that allow
you to put a “where is it” locater. It’s kind of like where did I leave
my wireless phone in the house. You can press the button and it goes
off, allowing you to find it! Has anyone else misplaced theirs?

Thanks,

Becky

I haven’t lost it yet, I’m usually pretty good about storing it back in my diabetes bag, but I like that idea. I can see my toddler deciding it is something he needs to play with one day and relocating it without my knowledge.

My PDM is generally fine as I keep it in a pouch attached to my belt loop… I did once lose my CGM receiver (which I keep in my pocket… I know…) and drove all over town trying to find it, only to finally find it had fallen out of my pocket in the car and was under the seat. The relief in finally finding it (and the annoyance at myself) was describable. I can definitely understand that desire for a tracker to help find it.

I misplaced my PDM (lost in the sofa)…stayed at home and did the MDI thing until the “auto off alarm” went off.

I had not thought of that, great idea! Unfortunately I was headed out for dinner and needed it.

I had a box of Humalog flex pens (free with coupon) that I try to keep on hand just in case. I also have a granddaughter who is still “in training” who doesn’t always carry what she needs. In addition, I have a few meters as backups, too. Of course I had to do the numbers calculations myself. It was a definite reminder of the luxury/convenience of the pump. You can then withdraw the remaining insulin for use in the pods.

I haven’t lost just my PDM yet, but it will happen. One time I left the entire bag I carry with the PDM, insulin vial, lancet, spare batteries, spare pods, Calorie King book, glucagon kit, asthema inhaler and snacks under the table in a restaurant. I didn’t notice it was gone for about 2 - 3 hours until I was ready to head home and I couldn’t find the bag. It turned out to still be under the table in the restaurant and I got it back, but I was sweatting it on the drive back to the restaurant.

Havent done it yet…but I am sure it’s gonna happen. I am a klutz and since my stroke a little mentally challenged. The idea of the locator is something I’m gonna act on tomorrow! Good advice! Peace!

Lost mine at the airport in Malaysia…ON MY WAY OUT! The whole PDM case. My spare meter was in my checked bag…Luckily I had spare insulin and syringes with me…
Safe to say, I was shocked to see it in the mail about a month later, back in the US!

If I decide to keep the pod, I best get a second PDM.

Just thought I would chime in - we put a label on the back of our PDM that says “MEDICAL DEVICE - IF FOUND PLEASE CALL 555-1212” so that people who find it understand it’s not some kind of game or cell phone. Luckily, we’ve not lost it since we make it a habit to keep it on the kitchen counter when in the house. So far, so good…

Really? You have the same number as long distance informaion! If you lose your PDM your gonna get alot of calls asking for phone numbers in Russia!
