Many people on here say that they reuse the lancets in their Multiclix. I looked on their site and here is what I found:
"Can I use a lancet more than once?
We strongly recommend the use of a new, sterile lancet every time you test. The tip of a new needle is sharp and precisely formed to ensure gentle lancing, but the tip can become dull or bent if used more than once. What's more, a new lancet is sterile and hygienic. For these reasons, the ACCU-CHEK Multiclix lancing device will not allow you to re-select a used lancet."
So, according to the Q&A on the site, you can't reuse. If you do, how do you do it?
i only change my lancet, click to a new one like once a week - when i remember, never have had a problem. of course they advise us to use a new one..it's more money for them if we're buying more.
Sorry to disappoint you but, I am not saying that I use or want to use a new one each time! I know it is just my experience but I have been diabetic for 29 years and have reused syringes and lancets for all those years (went on pump in '00). No skin infections from insertions in all those years-- knock on wood. I just want to know how multiplex users do reuse the lancets, if they do!
There are many discussions here about lancets & how often people change them. I rarely change mine & most people don't use a new lancet daily, or with ever stick. Never gotten an infection & never heard of anyone getting infected from reusing them. Though not expensive, of course Accu-Chek wants you to buy their product. From me, that would 3650 lancets a year.
yeah really..! if only we could re-use test strips. maybe someone will invent or come up with that one...re-usable test strips, one/day. they're so dang expensive it's ridiculous, especially for those folks who don't have insurance. such a shame.
You can keep reusing the same lancet as many times as you want, and then when you want to move to a new one you just twist the end of the Multiclix to move to a new one. What they mean is that you can only move forwards; once you move to a new lancet you can't move backwards to use one that you've already used, but you can continue using the selected lancet for as many times as you want. I probably change mine about once a week, which is far more than I was changing lancets before I started using this lancing device.

The multiplex site made it sound like you could not do what you, Jen, are saying you can. Thought so, just wanted to be sure before buying the system!
Yes, you can Nell. You change lancets by turning the end of the device. No turn, no new lancet, easy peasy. I like them because they are very stable. For travelling I use the Delica.
Back in the day we would cut the glucometer strips in half and they would still cover enough of the window to read the strip. I think the meter companies figured that out pretty quick.
