My first Endo Visit

So after 5 years of dxd with t2 diabetes I get my first Endo session last week. I was on the good corporate insurance before and then I get laid off. Didn't get treated for 3 years and then found out about county supplemented insurance. Got hospitalized in Dec and now I'm getting proper care and treatment.

I like my Endo (she is a nurse practioner) she is telling it to me straight that I haven't been taking care of myself but I am back on track. She got me on the insulin N to cover me day and night and increased my dosage from 10cc to 15. She also put me on metformin 500mg 2tabs twice a day. I would say it was a good experience overall and like her no-nonsense approach (trust me I need the tough love). She says my hospitalization was the best Xmas present ever and I would tend to agree. My short term goal is to get my A1C from 12 to 7 which I feel is totally doable. Today I will go to the dietician and plan out my meals. Also a first in my life. So, now I got the team. I need to do my part and eat right and exercise. Wish me luck:)I am on the road to recovery.

Wish you all the best! I think you are on the right track. My diagnosis A1C was 9.5...down to 6. I think your goal is well doable.

I was dx in 1996 with T2 and I've never seen an endo. AND I work in a hospital with good insurance. Good luck on getting your A1c down.

I am glad to hear that things are getting on track and taking this seriously. You could be right, that hospitalization could have saved your life.

Definately doable I would say! Good luck with it, it's well worth it.
