Need to Simplify

Ever try a Romertopf clay cooker? Yummy way to roast a whole chicken or a turkey breast! Plus all your veg.

I have one of those but I find the rules about heating up finicky. If I remember correctly you need to soak it in water and then you need to put it into the oven as it preheats, or else it will crack.

Sounds like what is used to make ā€œrealā€ Tandoori chicken.

I’m feeling a bit exotic today; think I’ll get one!

I soak it while I prep, then into a cold oven. An hour later, dinner!

My husband saw one of those ā€œEggā€ smoker/ovens and immediately thought Tandoori-style chicken. :poultry_leg: :smile_cat:

[/quote]Now you’ve done it. You’ve REALLY done it!

Chicken Tikka Masala is one of my all-time favorite dishes across all cultures. For those unfamiliar, it is an Indian chicken dish made with Tandoori marinated and cooked chicken, and the most fabulous curry-based sauce.

It is aweful if not done right, which is the way I find it at most restaurants. The rare gem that can make a good Tikka Masala is a golden find.

So, because of you, Rose, I am now craving Tikka Masala. And I am no where near a known good restaurant. I will just have to suffer until tomorrow, when I’m back home (at my parents right now project managing acquisition of an Acorn Stairlift chair).

A friend of ours has one of those Big Green Eggs. He’s made us dinner 4 or 5 times with uniformly excellent results.

a bulk cook, then meal size portions and a freezer :evergreen_tree:
a dozen pre-boiled eggs in the fridge, as a snack or part of a quick meal to have on hand
sometimes it’s even too hard getting the slow cooker started of a morning.:rage:

Quick microwave defrost a chicken in an oval bowl, doesn’t matter if it part cooks… small enough so the added ā€˜sauce’ covers it, or cut it up so it does cover.,…then nuke for a half hour while you sip a wine

add a jar or can of puree/diced tomatoes,
(olive oil, oregano and some olives etc…instant italian)
(jar curry paste…instant indian)

or
add a can of coconut cream
(green curry paste, fish sauce…instant thai)
(tom yum paste for thai stew, cut back on coconut and add water)
(also indian pastes)

or
add greek yogurt
(back to indian curry pastes, you say you like tandoori …add a tandoori paste)

or
add peanut paste/butter and water
(curry pastes, satay etc)

you might notice a trend, I have dozen jars of different pastes…simple but with a big flavour kick
I go to asian shops and buy a batch, in small jars… the ones I liked I bought again in bigger jars/containers

My friend, who happens to be my endocrinologist, rants and raves about his green egg

Could you share the Chia pudding recipe here?

Is there a LCHF meal plan posted somewhere? Something that may suggest for breakfast : —, lunch : —, dinner: —.

I don’t think there is a meal plan as such, but there are a lot of low carb recipes in the Recipe Section of this site. You can also google Low Carb Breafast/Lunch/Dinner and browse through what sites some up. You don’t have to restrict yourself to designated breakfast foods for breakfast.

https://www.dietdoctor.com

and http://realmealrevolution.com/real-food-lists

these two places have good recipes and you can make up a meal plan or find one there. I have Noakes’ cook book and it is good and has meal plans.

this also has meal plans

Here’s Adam’s recipe in his own words:

My recipe: I mix 1/4 cup of Chia seeds, 1/2 cup of water, a hearty amount of cinnamon, 1 tbsp of coconut oil, 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract (zero sugar), and some combination of random toppings (usually frozen raspberries and nuts or sunflower seeds). After about a minute of stirring with a spoon and about a minute sitting, it turns into a pudding-like gel. It can also be made in a batch by quadrupling the recipe. There are many other recipes online too, though most have way too much added sugar. - See more at: https://diatribe.org/diabetes-65-fat-diet-chia-breakfast-intermittent-fasting#sthash.GcjAPLxd.dpuf

I eat this almost every day now. Sometimes I eat it for my evening meal.

Question: Is Chia pudding made from the same seeds that come with the Chia Head?

Yes, same seeds.

What do they taste like? Any comparison to more common nut flavors?

The seeds in chia pudding taste almost sweet to me, even without adding any sweetener.

Rumor has it that once the vice-president elect (US) takes office, eating breakfast for dinner will become an offense punishable by prison terms of no less than 5 years and/or mandatory ā€œreprogrammingā€ treatment… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
