New Enlite sensor - first impressions? Thoughts and so forth

You NEVER give up, acid. Thumbs up!! I hope I get better results from the Enlites. As I said before about the sof-sensors, like the little girl with the curl in the middle of her foreheard".:"When they were good, they were very, very good, but when they were bad they were HORRID": Showed trends, missed lows, and some highs too into the 3rd day. I would restart the sensor without removing the transmitter on the 3rd day, sometimes could get 6-7 days but not often.. Can you extend the Enlite any more? You say naught.. Maybe your transmitter is shot. Mine is about 11 months old.

I will get the formal group training from the MM nurse on the 530 g and the Enlite on Tuesday( yay!!a chance to get out of the house!!).. What do I have to study up on to make the transition easier? I guess I have to read the study guiders and go online. How is the 530g, other than the threshold suspend, significantly different from the Revel( 523)?

God bless,
Brunetta

I am not aware of any differences between The 530g and the revel except for the 6 day sensor use (no more sensor end after 3 days) and the threshold suspend. If you learn of any others please let us know!

I have STILL only tried the one test sensor. I have a box in waiting, but for some odd reason, after that first enlite sensor only lasted 5 days, switching back to the original sensors (I had some to use up) has given me ridiculously long periods of run time.
Like, truly crazy lengths of time.

Previous my longest time had been 24 days. This happened twice but in saying that, it was a once in a blue moon kind of experience.

I've just removed a sofsensor after 28 days of reliable up time before sensor errors and unreliability happened.
At this rate I'm not going to be able to even try the Enlites for another 4 months :D

It makes me wonder if they are using some kind of slightly more forgiving algorithm with the new pump? Honestly, other than the low suspend (kind of pointless in my opinion for most), the pumps are identical.

I know this may be coincidence. Perhaps I lucked out on a good batch, but...Certainly not something to be sniffed at either. I'm going to continue running them until dead and see if I'm onto something here.

Acidrock. When you switched back, did you encounter any difficulties with insurance or minimed saying you had the wrong equipment for the sofsensors?

I never used the old ones for more than 6 days. I would stick them down with Opsite so when it was time to recharge, it would yank the sensor out.

I'm just working through a bunch of leftovers in my stash of gear. I like the Enlites when they're on just fine and the insertion is way better. I am thinking it may be the transmitter though. I must have kvetched about it here the last time it happened but I have no clue when it was. I'll call MT tomorrow and, if they can give me a date, perhaps I can track down my post. I am fairly confident that they'll send me another transmitter as their usual response is "we can sell you another one, you're due!"

I tried to use the sof sensors more than 6 days, but they never worked well after recharging the transmitter, so I stopped trying. I MUCH prefer the enlites as far as insertion and taping, and find them very accurate. I've decided to stick with them, even if they only last 5 days. I will continue to call in when they don't make it to 6 days, and the replacements will allow me to make it through until time to reorder.

I wish I had as good of an experience with the enlites as you… Maybe I should try my thigh? Where do you put it, on the outer fatty part? I have never used anything but my abdomen for the sensors.

Abdomen only here.
Always at least 2 inches from my infusion set.

I used my thighs for the sof sensors but the two times I tried the enlites there I got very erratic results. BUT that might have been because I taped them down tightly - something I now know is not good. I have been using my abdomen. I may try my thigh at some point, but I am worried that I will pull the sensor out if I can't tape it down.
If you decide to use your thigh, what worked for me was where my hand falls if I am sitting in a chair and just drop my hands onto my legs. The middle from side to side and toward the top of my thigh.
