New generation Animas pump integrated with Dexcom G5 expected 2017

My sales rep here in Norway (Europe) told me this. She also told me the name of the pump (which I forgot) and that the pump will have a system that based on your sensor glucose values can predict when you are approaching low glucose levels in advance and automatically stop insulin delivery. Same thing if the values sense you are getting high, it can give your more insulin.

I tried to find more info online, but no success. Thought you all just would like to know.

The new pump is called “Hypo Hyper Minimizer”. I found one article from 2013 when it was still under development. Article here.

Thanks for the info, Siri. If it is anything like the Vibe, those of you in Europe will get access to it years before those of us in the US. I’m due for a new pump this fall and have no idea what I will choose.

My endocrinologist here (Canada) told me about this pump a year or two ago. I’m currently using an out-of-warranty Ping and am waiting for this pump to come out so I can upgrade.

I´m curious about how the new pump will work. I´m currently using my Animas Vibe with integrated Dexcom G4 and I use it the way I think the new pump will work automatically. I use the alarms on the Dexcom to alert my before I go high or low and then either switch off the basal or turn it up.

I was also told I couldn´t find any pictures of the “Hypo Hyper Minimizer” online yet. I hope the screen is a bit bigger and brighter and that is is possible to individualize the y-axis. I would like 10 mmol/l (180 mg/dl) to be my upper limit not 22,5 (400 mg/dl).

That would be great if the screen were a little better. And it would be great to be able to customize the y-axis, as well as to be able to scroll back through, say, a week’s worth of readings.

My endo also told me animas was coming out with a new pump but didn’t have any specifics. I to have an out of warranty ping. If I am not in a fairly dark place I can hardly read what is on the screen. I don’t think I will be able to hold out until the new pump is here. She also stated she wouldn’t recommend me getting a t:slim pump because of problems they have heard it has with the heat and humidity here in Louisiana. So I am holding out as long as I can

The new pump called “Hypo Hyper Minimizer” is delayed. In the meantime Johnson&Johnson releases a new Vibe-pump which integrates with Dexcom G5. My pump rep here in Norway says I can upgrade, so at least I will get the Dexcom-info also on my phone. That will be a huge improvement for me.

Press release from Johnson&Johnson.

Interesting news. Did your rep talk about launch dates? (Thinking Scandinavia here;)
Also out-of-curiosity is cgm fully subsidised by gov in Norway? (Dream-on situation here in Finland ;(

Thanks for posting this with a link. I somehow missed this announcement last month.

My rep didn´t talk about launch dates, she only said 2017 and “hopefully soon”.

CGM is almost fully subsidised in Norway, it´s just an annual copay (300 USD) which includes all medical care. That said, it´s only a a few diabetics that get to use a CGM at all. If you don´t get your doctors approval and still want a CGM you have to pay out of your pocket. It´s not a common thing (yet) to have private health insurance here.
