Unomedical makes the TruSteel just like they make Sure-T’s. No 43" tubing is available for that type of set. You must remember, the Sure-T was originally envisioned as a set for small children/babies. It’s a wonder they even elected to make it many years ago with the longer version that I use.
From Medtronic: it comes in 3 tubing lengths and 3 cannula lengths . The 6mm cannula is available in 18", 23", and 32" lengths ; the 8mm cannula is available in 23" and 32" lengths ; and the 10mm cannula is available in 32" length tubing
Whether or not all of those tubing lengths vs needle lengths are still valid; I don’t know.
I have not marketing affiliation with Omnipod/Insulet. I had an X2, which is an excellent pump, but the Omnipod is absolutely awesome! Getting rid of the tubing and not having to charge the pump is very freeing. I also do much better with my A1C as I would just disconnect my X2 when swimming or running. Now I am much more disciplined with use of temp basals and learning that 45 minutes of running = xx BG. Then I can eat or adjust accordingly. I know that you can do temp basals with X2, but it was so easy just to disconnect.
that is one of my biggest complaints of the Tandem pumps. I’ve got far too many things already that I have to charge. Which brings to mind why I don’t want an electric car.
I’m excited for this pump and so hope the usability is good. As someone who uses only tiny amounts of insulin, I’ve been waiting for an easy to wear/hide small pump with infusion line/set, rather than pod design, for a long time.
I asked a senior exec from the company if they were going to have a number of different lengths of infusion sets for these small pumps (something I think is important anyway to allow maximum site locations) and she said yes we will.
As I live outside the US where things are slow, I guess it will be 2022 before this would reach here. So glad to see things in the industry moving forward but OMG. This really has been a long wait.
