No clue!

Hey everyone. I’m actually new to all this pumping. Started last Friday and so far it’s been up and downs for me. Wasn’t this suppose to be easier?!? Well my main problem today is my BG. This morning I woke up to a normal reading(I suppose) 116. After taking a shower my inset fell off. I installed a new inset, but used the same tubing. I rechecked my BG after 2 hours and it came out to be 196. Something wasn’t right. All thru out the day my sugar has been high. I’ve tried correcting it but get no good results. Could it be that I’m not receiving any insulin? Don’t really know what’s the cause. Any advice? When installing a new inset, would it have been better if I filled the new tubing? sigh

You just needed to fill the cannula. Disconnect and see whether or not you can deliver any insulin through the tubing (say 3-5u). If you can, then pump is ok. Since your set fell out, your probably were not receiving insulin. Hang in there.

Thanks for the info Janice! I actually found out what the problem was. The cannula wasn't actually in my body. The insulin was just being delivered in between the adhesive and skin. lol!! I'll keep that in mind if something like that ever happens again.

That’s exactly what I supposed.

Hey Roberto, I started pumping 7 or 8 weeks ago and noticed the same problem with the insets coming off or becoming loose after showers. Some people have this problem and others don’t. It depends on a persons skin. What I did was bought some Skin-Tac from “direct care store” on amazon and some Uni-Solve adhesive remover.

I already had some sterile non latex glove, I would recommend that since the skin-tac really gets sticky. Be careful not to Over do it. You really do need the Uni-solve to remove it. It’s almost odorless and if I put the Uni-solve on the old infusion first, then put the new one in by that time the old one just peals off with no issues. Then a alcohol wipe for disinfectant and a small band-aid for a day or two to let the old spot heal a little.

I deal with direct care store because I have used them in the past for other items and the shipping is fast. You may find it at a local place also?

I’m one of those who have to pry it off!! I love nice long warm baths?
