For those of you who have used both Novolog and Humalog while pumping (or shots), in your opinion, which insulin is faster acting?
Which do you prefer?
Humalog started working less and less well for me, and caused an allergic reaction.
Overall, I would say for me Novolog lasts a bit longer and works a bit slower.
No one reacts the same of course.
I switched from Humalog to Novolog when I started doing bike rides out in Death Valley because I was told that it handles heat better. I didn’t really notice any differences once I made the switch.
Good question, Grayce! I’m thinking of switching myself and am interested to know anyone has noticed a big difference between the two.
My son has been on both, pumping. I do not notice any difference in it’s effectiveness. We do need to change sites more often - it causes a little more skin irritation.

i use novolog. i did start on humolog but got sick and a rash every time found out recently the stopper in humolog is latex and i have a latex allergy so I am sure that was the problem.
I recently switched to Novolog (after using Humalog for 5 years). It seems like Novolog is a bit slower acting insuling than Humalog. Has anyone had the same experience?
Yes, I have. I switched from Humalog to Novolog probably 5 or 6 years ago (before pumping, after using Humalong for a few years) because I was going low before the carbs of my food took effect. Actually, I don’t know if there’s more of a delay, or if the initial “spike” of Novolog is not as steep and is a bit more extended. But from my readings on here, some people have encountered the exact opposite.
Thanks Scott! You’re right, it could be that the initial spike of this insulin is more extended. I switched to Novolog to have an option of taking 0.5 unit (I don’t use a pump). It just seems that my BSs are higher now with Novolog. I guess I should give it a little more time.
After switching to Novalog, I really wanted to go back to Humalog for the same reason. I still wonder, on occasion, of Humalog would be better for me. But my doctor at the time was being overly super-cautious, I suppose, because of a few isolated low sugar levels.
I am thinking about using both (if this is possible) depending on what and when I eat. It’s been three days and my BSs keep at 130 - 170 level vs 70 - 150 
KiwiRox, I’m with you on that one! I live in Houston and read the same thing, so I asked my endo for Novolog.
