32 weeks and 3 days today
Hi Everyone⦠Iām new to the diabetics community and also trying to conceive. Hopefully with this group Iāll be able to gain some helpful insight. My hubby and I have been trying to conceive for about a year. Was disgnosed with PCOS back in Oct. 2010. Was disgnosed with diabetes on Oct. 4, 2011. What a year this has been.
8 weeks today! Morning sickness has set in
Hi all - my boys arrived on Tuesday night (10/4) via an emergency c-section. I developed preeclampsia and deteriorated pretty rapidly, so they were born at 30w4d. Currently in the NICU, and will be there for several weeks. Robert weight 3lbs7oz, Michael 3lbs3oz, and both came put screaming and strong. So far, they are doing well. Iām still recovering at the hospital and will update more when I can.
Glad to hear everyone is doing well now, bardowlatry. Scary stuff! Weāll be thinking of you. Congratulations!
Well Iām only 6 weeks so still a ball of nerves but I saw a little heartbeat today and it brought me a sense of peace. Yeah!!!
YAY! thats great annarebekah! What a heart warming moment!!! <3
30 weeks pregnant and just moved to a bigger apartment. Been a crazy weekend but sooo happy to be in our new place to get ready for our little baby! I rested today and finally feel like my body is my own again. Diabetes more or less behaved itself too. Iāll be very glad to be back to a normal routine again however.
C-section date moved up so now Iāve only got 3 weeks left to go!!! Anxious to finally meet my big munchikin who has been kicking the heck out of me!!!

Love from Nura and Mother.xxxx
Hello;
Im a 40 yr old type 1 who has had diabetes for 35 years with no complications (knock on wood).
I was lucky enough to have a beautiful daughter 12 years ago, after which I didnt want to tempt fate and had my tubes tied.
Fast forward to today and I am a newleywed with a man who has never had any children. We are looking into the IVF process and have a referral sent to a fantastic clinic in Toronto, ON Canada. (waiting for our first appointment date)
I had no complications with my first pregnancy, but I know being 40 puts a whole new spin on things, not to mention my diabetes.
Has anyone been in a similar situation where you are 40 or up and have had a healthy pregnancy? (or has some information you feel I should be aware of)
Thanks in advance;
Tara
36 weeks
nesting badly
Nura is freaking adoableeee!
My a1c was consistently 6.1 throughout my pregnancy. I just went back for a 6 week follow up and it was down to 5.9ā¦and now Iām not even trying as hard because Iām so busy taking care of our baby! Guess itās from the lows with breastfeeding!!
My A1c after pregnancy was lower than during pregnancy, but I also think it was because of all the lows. I had highs too though!! All in all, my blood sugars were worse than during pregnancy, but my A1c was better. Just goes to show you that A1c is not everything
Sally;
Thanks for the post.
Congratulations! I have finally heard back from the fertility clinic in Toronto and have my first appointment scheduled for Monday Jan 9. They told us to expect to be there for 2-4 hrs, to have a full bladder ( im assuming a pelvic ultrasound will be happening) as well lots of blood work which I was advised wont be covered by OHIP. To expect to pay between $75 and $250 for this visit. (which isnt a suprise, we knew what we were getting into money wise)ā¦
Im excited, but dont know if I should beā¦Im not so much concerned about having another baby at my age (40) more so the effects another pregnancy will have with my diabetes. The last time (12 years ago) my daughter was brought 3 and a half weeks early due to pressure that was happening to the blood vessels behind my eyesā¦she was still over 6 lbs so it was all good, but obviously kidneys, eyes. all that comes to mindā¦
Iāll just have to be extra vigilantā¦last time my rates were perfectā¦out of fear, if this works for us and I do become pregnant, it will be the sameā¦testing testing testingā¦and then test again⦠
Iāll take any prayers that friends want to throw my way for a sucessful first appointment. Any suggestions or comments are always welcome.
Hi trinsmum. There are a few of us in a group called Dealing With Infertility, and a couple of us are currently going through the IVF process (on top of being diabetic). Feel free to join our discussion. Good luck with everything! ![]()
I just got back from the OB and was able to see our lil' babe and heartbeat today!!! I am 8 weeks and our daughter is almost 4, so she's really excited, too. Fingers crossed for the next few weeks and the remainder of the pregnancy. My tentative due date is the end of June, although with #1, I delivered nearly a month early. Very excited!!!
Just wondering where everyone clips their pump, I normally clip to my waist area but it keeps digging into my belly and when my infusion set is on the opposite side to my sensor the CGM keeps not being able to read from the transmitter through my big belly lol
