Old spotty glucose tabs - What are the dots?

Gerri, jelly beans are 1 gram glucose each? Wow I will try them next time I am in need. John has them everywhere.

I have to say I am going with everyone here sounds like mold. I would toss them and get new ones.

Yep, just 1 gram each. Jelly Bellies have great flavors. Love the tangerine flavor.

Wow that is good to know. Thanks.

Another reason to marry John. A man who has jelly beans everywhere is good to have around:)

Thus down side to jelly beans is that they taste great…might eat them “just because”…glucose tabs however!!!

I have seen darker colored spots on mine, but not black!! I wouldn’t eat black-dotted glucose. I assumed just the darker spots were moisture so I have eaten them and nothing bad has come out of it…but black…ehhh I wouldn’t chance it, haha.

Smarties do work in a pinch, plus around Halloween those little boogers are in abundence!!!

Little darkened dots are fine - if the tabs are stored in a humid environment, then the tabs crystallize into these little spots. I would avoid drastic color changes because, like many people have mentioned, it’s probably mold. I always keep only a small baggy full of them in my car to try and avoid wasting too many.

I agree with most other posters, I’ve also learned that mould is another word spelt ‘incorrectly’ in the US!
