I just pull the pod apart to stop the screaming. I can usually do it with my fingers, but sometimes I have to use a letter opener, screwdriver or whatever is handy. Once the top is off, the power to the speaker is disconnected.
This never happened to me where I couldn’t stop the pod from “screaming”. Doesn’t the PDM just turn it off? It always did for me and if it didn’t, I’d walk it out to the garbage bin and toss it in. lol
On rare occasions, the PDM will not stop the pod alarm. Then, more drastic measures are required.
I was unaware you could withdraw insulin from a pod. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve started a new pod that ended up being a dud and throwing away 100+ units in the trash. I have had two on at once but noticed it right away fortunately. Oh and the paper clip method never works, neither does the freezer, they thaw and start up all over again. I did learn that one of the pods’ issues especially in the winter is static. A rep I’ve known for years recommends keeping a dryer sheet in with the spare/emergency pods I travel with as a preventative.
