I spend a large portion of my day in the water. I also teach swimming. The pod is never in water longer than 30 minutes. My problem is adhesive. The pod literally is hanging off by the second day. I called Omnipod and their only recommendation was to use a protective barrier wipe instead of an alcohol wipe. Of course I ordered those and there is absolutely no difference. Does anyone have any fix for this issue?
Mefilm (mepore film dressing) over the top of the pump.
do you put anything over the pod? we like tegaderm strips we put them over the canula end of Jacobs pod they are like a big clear bandaid..once you get the smaller pods ( we have had them for 2 weeks) I think you will be a lot happier they stick better and of course there are smaller so less to come loose! best of luck, amy oh and we haven't been using any adhesive
Ditto!
Jacob got one we might of gotten the wrong size it really doesn't stay on that well, I guess you could order smaller than you think you need and it might be ok he uses it throwing a foot ball or something but it usually slides off, never in the pool
Tegaderm, cut it in half and put half on each side of the pod. Works great. It's waterproof and breathable!
We use Skin tac wipes and Mastisol to help the pod adhere better, then over the top I put a 2" x 4" heavy duty waterproof bandaid from CVS. We don't have the new pods yet, but these bandages will fit even better over the smaller ones. And they are truly super duper waterproof!!
Keniso tape is water proof. Don't like the water so can't say how well it will work for you but since the makers claim it sticks well when wet I would try it if I were you. Good luck.
We have also used kinesiotape, which is indeed waterproof, but not for long.
Tegaderm and get an arm band or belly band something to help keep it place. You can also try mefix over the top but for us the skintac then tegaderm over that and then place pod on top of that and insert needle through the tegaderm was the key for swimming. We also place on the arm with a band or under his trunks for extra support. HIH
not making great progress...tried the most popular response tegaderm. I do have the older pod still. It does help the pod stay on during swim but ultimately the edges of the tegaderm do start to roll up. It is not cost productive to put a new patch on every time I get out of the water. I am now trying one of the other options! Thanks to all who responded as this is pretty frustrating to me. Almost feel as the only thing that would work is going back to shots but I really don't want to do that!!!
Hi Dale, the first couple of months for us for also very frustrating for this very reason, but we finally figured out what works best for us and you will, too. Believe me, we tried everything - I have so many different kind of tapes it's ridiculous. I tried Tegaderm as well, both under AND over the pod and it came right off - didn't even last an hour for us either way.
I put something OVER the pod initially because on my then-3 year old daughter there was so much gappage between the pod and the adhesive, I was sure she would snag the pod on something while playing and rip it right off. I'm sure that won't be an issue with the new smaller pods, but now I just like the security in knowing it won't come off.
