Swimming with an OmniPod

All,

I am looking at best practices to keep my daughter’s omnipod tethered to her during the swim training sessions (abotu 30 min) and during swim meets.

I am thinking of placing her pod under her swim suit in her abdomen but I welcome any other suggestions.

Regards

I’ve been in the water with no extra “help” with the adhesive, and I’ve been fine thus far. I would recommend using SkinTac as an adhesive wipe before puting on the pod, and then you should be good to go without any extra tape or anything. Happy swimming!

I, too, have been swimming several times without any issues. I don’t have any pod adhesion issues any other time, either, so if your daughter does, swimming might magnify it.
One thing I would suggest: after getting out of the water, make sure she gives it plenty of time to dry before doing anything that might jostle or dislodge the pod; I’ve noticed that after a shower the pod or adhesive seems more likely to detach while it is still damp, but once it dries it seems to be back to full strength. I lost one pod when, right after a shower, I decided to wrestle with my 2-year-old and the pod was left hanging on “by a thread” (although the cannula was still in and delivering insulin, so I taped it on and got one more day out of it!). So now I’m a little extra careful around it for a few minutes after a shower or swim.

So I guess your two year old won. I can see it…

WAIT, WAIT—TIME OUT----STOP—

Now your kid know your weakness.

 yeah, well since I outweigh him by 140 pounds, I guess it just levels the playing field

Actually, he is remarkably cognizant and “respectful” of my pods. We’ve taught him “that’s Daddy’s medicine” and to be careful around it - he seems to understand the concept completely.

You can use some of the Johnson & Johnson waterproof tape over the pod and adhesive.
