Omnipod day three! Basal way lower than bolus, is this ok?

My daughter is on day three of her Omnipod start, doing well so far, blood sugars mostly normalized, she’s happy as a clam!! Did have a hypo the first night cause basal was too high, since adjucting has been 100 all night. Strange thing is her basal is now only 20-25% of her total dose rather than 50/50 as before? She’s on just a whiff of insulin, basal .10 and 7 or so bolus units a day now, about 25% less than while on mdi.
Is it ok to be this far off 50/50 ratio of basal to bolus?

She is 35 kilos so 10/k/day honeymoon doses still

Words of wisdom for our first pod change to
Tomorrow?

Don’t worry about the bolus/basal percentage. The basal is just for background insulin to handle normal cellular functions, the bolus for the actual carbs consumed. Everybody is going to be different. If her blood sugars are good - go with it!

Good luck with the pod change! Just remember to use room temperature insulin in the new pod, and don’t have any other unused pods in close proximity when you are activating it. The next couple of months may be a rollar coaster of site selection discoveries, hopefully those all go smoothly! (ie - my arms are full of nerves or blood vessels or something, if I am going to have a painful pod - that is where it will be… my first pod change, I chose my arm. It was so different from my back and I suddenly thought - did I make the wrong choice? this is PAINFUL!)

we use baby oil soaked cotton ball to take off the old pod. works great and helps soothe the skin under the pod, which is red after removal for a little while. The right dose of insulin is whatever keeps your daughter in target. My 13 year old has been on the Omnipod 3 months now and we have made at least 3-4 adjustments of her basal insulin. In the begining it is very helpful to keep records every day. we did this for 2 months straight and helped us fine tune things. What am I sayin we!, I kept the records LOL! Anyway, good luck
