Omnipod shortage?

I tried to reorder pods (usually a 3 month supply) and was told by my supplier that "due to a nationwide shortage" they could only ship out a 2 month supply. Has anyone else heard this? Is it related to the new OmniPods (so they're tailing off production) since i'm not on the new one yet? Or an actual production problem?

Nope, I haven't heard this at all. Have you tried calling Insulet directly and finding out what the issue is? I would think that they would need to provide you with the new system if they can't provide you with the old one any longer (unless you are are out of warranty...)?

The issue may be specific to your supplier (not Insulet). Maybe their stock of old pods is running out and they don't have the new ones yet?

It happens from time-to-time. I am a Medtronic customer rather than Insulet, but I have experienced two instances over the last 5 years where there was a production shortage and they could only do a partial allocation. I'll also point out that one of those shortages was due to an infusion set recall, which certainly would have spiked the short-term demand.

Just had mine refilled and had a my 3 month supply (5 boxes) filled and shipped out. Sounds like your supplier is spreading some fertilizer to keep you from switching.

I'm on the new pods, and just back to auto ship. They are only shipping me one box now, and the other two boxes at the end of the month due to a "shortage". So it's not just the old pods. I'll be glad when everyone is on the new pods and things settle down. It took me three days to get a hold of the reorder dept.
