So I’m one month into the OmniPod pump (my new little friend). I have learned a lot and am getting used to it. The proof will be in my overall A1C numbers after a period of time but I’m very grateful to the fact is I’m not doing 7+ insulin shots a day! My family and friends have been SO supportive in this new journey of mine. So, THANK YOU. I think my original issue was the lack of support that I got to start. It was a bit of a bummer. I didn’t feel taken care of… I gave the doctors office my feedback as a 15 year Diabetic that decides to go on the pump that is is a BIG FRIGGIN DEAL. And it can play with your emotions. So, still on the road… and seeing how it goes…
It is really hard without support. I got SO LUCKY with my new doctor. I move around a lot (with Whole Foods-4 states in 6 years) so I’ve had a few endocrinoligists. Turns out I work with a type 1 diabetic and she recommended her doc who turned out to be incredible! I trusted him almost immediately and knew I’d great support on the pump which I wouldn’t even consider for the 3 years previously. He’s a big supporter of the pump for people with crazy lifestyles…and don’t we all have one!? Hope you’re loving the pump as much as me! It’s an adjustment but so worth the few cons!
It is a big deal. I did over 30 years of injection. It’s a total shift. You’ve got everyone here who can give you some guidance. I really got the most help and the most head’s up from the other pod users here. I am so glad that you’re loving your new little friend. Isn’t it stunning when you realize that you’re not going to have to give multiple injections just to get through your day?
