So I have been thinking

That this diabetic thing is a very confusing thing, I say this like I was diagnosed yesterday, but no I was diagnosed 17years and 4 months ago. To me it seems that everyday is a different obstical that I am more than willing to take on. Everyday I awake excited to see what the day will bring me. Since beginning my omnipod I have become so much closer to my diabetes. I feel as though I am the one now in controll. Unlike before when I was guessing what I needed. I soon found the best doctor for me, she is understanding, straight to the point, and so helpful. The doctor I saw before her was uneducated in the world of diabetes and had no idea what she was telling me. Soon after finding my new doctor I began to understand so much more clearly what I needed to do to better myself. Then I got my A1C of 9.1 when I first saw this doctor, she didn’t make me feel bad or stupid for not taking care of myself, but gave me all I need to know to improve myself. Three months later my A1C went down to 8.4 still being on MDI, then three months later back up to 9.2. So I was determined to figure the best option for me. I was totally against the whole pump concept. I HATE needles and the tubing and all that the pump required I was scared. Then I soon found the omni pod and wanted it right then and there. I asked my doctor and she was totally for the pod. So here begins my journey of getting my pod, which is relatively short from others stories. I sent my papers to omnipod they called and said. " all of your information has been sent to the insurance company, now we just wait for thier response which can take about a week." The next day I get a call from omnipod saying they have shipped my start up kit. My insure company apparently has great benefits, and everything was covered. About a week later I recieve my kit and set my appointment to start my new life. September 8th 2008 I had my appointment with the " pump lady" who told me all she knew, asked if I had any questions then said " lets get you started"
Wow within 30 min I was officially using an insulin pump. How exciting!!! I then had a endo appt in 3 months and on 12/18/08 my A1C was down to 6.5 I dont think it has ever been that low, I was so excited about starting a new, happier, healthier life. Thanks to omnipod, my doctor who believed in me and my family.

I guess I just felt like venting, I have had a great week and felt you all should know my story.

Thanks to everyone at TU D

Wow - a great success story. It is too bad people have to struggle to get the info or help they need, but you show that you can get what you need and make it work! Congratulations on your new life!
