What is the Target BG setting on your OPod? Mine is set @ 165 I was wondering if its time to lower it I have been on the OPod for 2.5 Months or Do i need to actually ask my Doc about it. Thanks RenZ
My CDE told me what to set my target bg setting at, so I would say ask your doc. Although b4 I even started the pump I knew what they wanted my sugars to be so you could go from there as well.
I started with a target of 120. I lowered it to 100 a while back. Works for me. 165 seems high. But it’s up to you, what your correction correction confidence level is, etc.
Depending on the time of day it is 150, 120 or 100. The 150 is while in the morning when Caleb is at school and has a tendency to go low. I have made these judgments myself, however you should consult your doctor if you have any questions at all about it. Particularly if you are new to pumping. We’ve been doing it for over 2 years.
Always check with your Diabetic educator or your endo before changing any settings. Mine is set for between 100-120, and that was decided by my endo.
Mine was started at 100…a decision by my CDE and myself. I lowered it to 90, but I do have lows.
Like everyone else said, my targets were set by my endo and CDE. 90 during the night and 100 during the day.
mine is set for 100 around dinner/bedtime, and 95 for the rest of the day. when i first used the pump, it was always 100.
W0w it sounds like mine is way I will hit my Doc up Thanks Soo Much!
I think it all depends on your age and weight. I think that the Pump Insulin book has the calculation in it. Will is a toddler so his is set pretty high, around 175. It changes throughout the day.
Pump Insulin book? What is the complete title and where is it available? Sounds like a good book for the library I work at. I was told by my doctor to keep around 80-120 before meals, 2 hours after 140-180…not on pump yet so this may be of no help whatsoever!
Susan might be refering to the book Pumping Insulin (4th ed.), by John Walsh and Ruth Roberts.
It’s a great book to read and covers pretty much any and all of the questions and concerns you’d have while pumping.
Hope that helps.
Yes it does help! Thank you Bradford! I will purchase a copy for myself as well as for the library.
