Wondering if you use outdated CGM sensors and if you do…do you feel they are still accurate? I have some sensors that are outdated (Medtronic) and curious of anyone’s experience. Thanks!
I use outdated sensors and they work just like the new ones. My out of pocket cost is the
same for one box or three so I always have sensors that are expired.
I can only speak for the Navigator, but yes, I found they are as accurate a couple of months past the expiration date. I also find that when I reuse them, they are more accurate on the second and third 5 day cycles than the first cycle.
I have a dexcom and I use 6+ month expired ones and they still work perfect! Accurate like always.
I've finished my box of MM sensors that expired in September, now using some that expired in January, all were pretty spot-on...IOW, nothing outside of the normal variation. These puppies are too valuable to just toss, so I use 'em.
Most I've done with old, old sensors is insert, connect and cover, then start it the next morning. Seems a little extra 'marinating' does no harm and I've only had one bad sensor in the last year.
I always use the "expired" sensors. They cost " WAAY" too much to throw away. Have never seen a decrease in accuracy as a result. Yes, I too "marinate" all my sensors for at least 5-6 hours whether, new or old, I GET MUCH BETTER RESULTS ON THE FIRST DAY, THEN.
God bless,
