So, I have a box of sensors sitting in my closet that I’ve been saving for a rainy day, and I think I read on this forum somewhere that they expire…does this mean that they cannot be used now??? It’s a box of 10. They supposedly expired in January.
I don’t wear the cgms a lot, only when I am having bizarre readings (I really have it in case of pregnancy in which I’d wear it all the time).
Technically yes they do. The expiration date on them is usually about 2 months after you buy them. How far out of date are they? The box that I’m using actually expired last month and I have another box waiting to be opened that has the same exp date. They are working fine for me so far. 1/2 way through the 1st box. Since you can’t send them back anyway, why not give them a try. You’ll probably be surprised that they will work fine.
I received 12 sensors from a pumper, who did NOT wan to use sensors. I offered them to people in our pumpers support group in our community …2 accepted them and had no trouble using well out dated sensors .( I get my sensors paid by extended health …the 2 that approached me did NOT ) )
I am currently using sensors that ‘expired’ in feb 09 and have had no problems - as a matter of fact, the one I removed Sunday worked for almost 24 days - the longest I have ever had one work!
That’s good to hear. I had to pay out of pocket for the box, so I’d hate to throw $350 away!!!

there is mammal protein in the sensor and they literally go bad, like cooked beef, after a while. It wouldn’t be dangerous, it just may not respond to fluid sugar changes, after the exp. date. hope this helps.
I must have a sensors from a super cow then. LOL The box that I’m on has been expired for over 2 months now. Going great so far. 3 more to go on this box!
